Advisory: Predicted Heat Wave

Posted Mon, Jul 24, 2023, From Teaneck Township
Summer temperatures are expected to reach into the 90s beginning Wednesday and continuing through Saturday. Friday's temperature may approach 100. The heat index will be high and could reach 105 on some or all of the days.

The Richard Rodda Center located at 250 Colonial Court will open as a cooling center for Teaneck residents between the hours of 8:00 AM - 10:00 PM Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. The cooling center will open on Saturday from 8:00 AM - 3:30 PM. Temperatures are expected to cool off on Sunday.

Tips, stay indoors as much as you can and limit outside activity. Stay hydrated and check on those that are vulnerable to excessive heat, like children, the elderly, and folks that have chronic illnesses.

It is NEVER safe to leave a toddler, disabled person or pet locked in a car for any period of time. Temperatures can reach and well exceed 120 degrees in a matter of minutes, even with the windows partially open. Humans and pets can quickly suffer brain damage or die from heatstroke suffocation.
