On March 10, 2023, a resident reported that an unknown person fraudulently purchased an iPhone 14 using her account information and phone number. She also reported that funds had been fraudulently withdrawn from her bank account. Det. Sgt. Michael DeMaio investigated and identified the suspect who made the bank withdrawals. On May 10, 2023, a warrant was issued for the arrest of Chenoa C. Hart, Bronx NY, age; 43. She was charged with third degree identity theft.

On May 3, 2023, a report was received that a credit card was used to make several fraudulent purchases. Det. Sgt. Michael Ragucci and Det. Sgt. Michael DeMaio investigated and identified the suspect which resulted in the arrest of Brian A. Basilio, Hawthorne NJ, age; 21. He was charged with one count each of 3rd degree fraudulent use of a credit card, and 3rd degree theft. He was processed and released from custody pending a court date.

On March 4, 2023, Wyckoff officers responded to a burglar alarm at Hartger’s Jewelers. The officers observed that the business had been burglarized. Det. Sgt. DeMaio and Det. Sgt. Michael Ragucci investigated and identified possible suspects. Working with other law enforcement agencies, one of the suspects was positively identified. On May 12, 2023, the suspect was arrested by the Nassau County, NY, Police Department, after committing a jewelry store burglary. Alexander E. Manigat, Brooklyn NY, age; 42, was charged in Wyckoff with 3rd degree burglary, 2nd degree theft of movable property, 3rd degree criminal mischief, and possession of burglary tools. He is currently in custody in New York.

On May 4, 2023, P.O. Kaitlyn Maglione responded to the M&T Bank on Godwin Avenue for a report of a fraudulent check. The bank manager reported that an unknown person attempted to cash a check on a closed account using fraudulent identification. The party had left the scene prior to police arrival. On May 23, Det. Sgt. Michael Ragucci investigated and identified the suspect, Justo Garcia, Bronx NY, age; 63. A warrant has been issued for Garcia charging him with forgery, and criminal attempt to commit theft.

The Wyckoff Police Department would like to point out that the above individuals have been charged with a crime, offense, and or motor vehicle violations. However, they are presumed innocent unless and until they are found guilty in a court of law.

We cannot stress enough the value of our residents remaining alert in their neighborhoods and reporting anything unusual or suspicious to the police, “Hear It! See It!, Report It!”
