Montclair Police Blotter for 07-04-23 to 07-11-23

Entered Vehicles
During the week of July 4, 2023 through July 11, 2023, five reports of vehicles entered were taken from Valley Road, Charles Street, Essex Avenue, and Washington Avenue. Time frames in the incidents ranged from early morning hours and midafternoon. The suspects were described as teenage males wearing masks.

Theft
July 9, 2023 (Bloomfield Avenue): The attendant at the Shell Gas Station reported that a white SUV pulled up to the gas pumps. The vehicle was occupied by two males. The driver requested to have the vehicle filled with gas and requested to pay cash. While servicing another customer, the attendant observed the driver of the white SUV remove the nozzle and flee east on Bloomfield Avenue without paying for $70.53 worth of gas.

Burglary
July 10, 2023 (Park Street): The resident reported being out of state for two weeks. When he returned home, he discovered his home had been burglarized. Entry appears to have been gained by force through a basement bathroom window. Once inside, the suspect(s) rummaged through all rooms including the second-floor bedrooms. Missing at the time of the report is jewelry, purses, and gold coins. The estimated total value of items stolen was $15,000.

Motor Vehicle Crime
July 11, 2023 (Park Terrace): The resident reported that his 2019 Acura RDX was stolen from his driveway during the overnight hours. The vehicle was replaced with a 2017 Hyundai Elantra which was left idling in the street. The Elantra was determined to be stolen from Newark, NJ.
