Burglary / Theft
January 3, 2023 (Orange Road): The resident reported that an unknown person entered her apartment at some point between December 28, 2022 and January 1, 2023. Entry appears to have been made through the front door. Missing at this time are clothing, jewelry, and personal documents.

January 8, 2023 (Bloomfield Avenue): The manager at Whole Foods reported that a customer entered the store and removed merchandise without paying. Surveillance video shows a white male with facial hair, in his 40’s-50’s, wearing a black jacket and jeans placing several vitamins into his cart and fleeing. The total value of merchandise stolen is $2311.00.

Motor Vehicle Crime
January 4, 2023 (Christopher Street): The owner of a 2006 Honda Accord reported that the Catalytic Converter was stolen off of his vehicle. The theft occurred between 6:00 PM January 3, 2023 and 7:20 AM January 4, 2023.

January 5, 2023 (Tichenor Place): The resident reported that she parked her vehicle in front of her residence and when she returned ten minutes later, she discovered that it had been rummaged through. The keys to the vehicle were stolen along with an unknown amount of change.

January 5, 2023 (Nishuane Road): The resident reported that his BMW S5 that had been parked in his driveway was entered. Surveillance in the area showed that at 8:45 PM, four to five males were seen in the driveway. The video shows one or two males inside of the vehicle and two others standing behind the vehicle in the driveway. Proceeds are unknown.

January 9, 2023 (Harrison Avenue): The resident reported that she was warming up her 2016 Mercedes Benz SCL unattended. When she exited her home, she discovered the vehicle was gone. It was recovered on South 18th Street in Newark later in the day.

January 9, 2023 (Bellevue Avenue): The owner of a 2006 Honda Civic reported that the Catalytic Converter was stolen off of his vehicle. The theft occurred during the overnight hours while the vehicle was parked in the driveway.

Arrest
January 3, 2023 (Claremont Avenue): The victim reported that he was using the Money Gram machine inside of CVS when he placed his keys down. After using the machine, he discovered his keys were missing. When he exited the store, he discovered that his vehicle, a 2008 Toyota Yaris, had been stolen. Officers patrolling the area observed the vehicle in the area of Pine Street and Glenridge Avenue. The officers were able to stop the vehicle. A 19-year-old male from East Orange was arrested and charged with Theft of a Motor Vehicle, Eluding and Resisting Arrest.
