Hoboken Police Arrest Blotter 6/15/23 - 6/21/23

1. On June 15, 2023, Police Officers James Barbro and Nick Velarius processed the arrest of 48- year-old Christian Porchiazzo of North Bergen, who had turned himself into North Bergen Police on active warrants out of Hoboken for burglary and theft. These warrants stem from an extensive investigation led by Detective Tyler Soto after reports of package thefts in Hoboken, specifically of six to seven packages stolen from a mail room of a building on the 1300 block of Grand Street on April 29, 2023. 2. On June 17, 2023, at approximately 8:30 p.m., Police Officers Damien Bates and Enrico Gnassi responded to a building on Bloomfield Street on reports of a man who did not live there knocking on fourth floor apartment doors. When officers arrived, they observed a man who fit the suspect’s description laying on the floor eating pizza. They asked the man, later identified as 48-year-old Clifton Harris of Hoboken, to leave and he refused multiple times. Harris was placed under arrest for defiant trespassing, processed, and released on a summons. Shortly after his release, Harris returned to Hoboken Police Headquarters, and began acting erratically in the vestibule. Multiple officers witnessed him throw a glass pitcher, which he had taken from a neighboring restaurant, at the glass doors, causing them to shatter. Officers Bates and Gnassi placed Harris under arrest again. He was charged with criminal mischief, possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose, unlawful possession of weapons, theft, and disorderly conduct. He was remanded to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.

3. On June 18, 2023, at approximately 12:50 a.m., Police Officers Ricky Truppner and Mark Mooreman responded to Hudson Street, just outside of Police Headquarters, for reports of a driver who struck a parked car. The driver, later identified as 29-year-old Quentin Dubois of Jersey City, had parked in a police-only parking spot, and was informed he could not park there. As he attempted to parallel park across the street, he was observed striking a parked car. Officer Truppner conducted a field sobriety test, after which Dubois was placed under arrest for driving while intoxicated and reckless driving. As per John’s Law he was later released into the custody of a responsible party.

4. On June 18, 2023, at approximately 10:15 p.m., Police Officers Damien Bates, Domenick Allegretta, and Anthony Hochstadter responded to Hoboken Garage D, 217 Hudson St., on reports of a motor vehicle accident. Upon arrival, officers observed an SUV with damage to the trunk area and a shattered rear windshield. The driver, later identified as 41-year-old Daniel Vazquez of Laurel, MD, could not produce registration or insurance documents. Vazquez was observed to have red glassy eyes and to be slurring his words. Officer Allegretta conducted a field sobriety test, after which Vasquez was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, failure to exhibit insurance, and refusal to provide breath samples. As per John’s Law he was later released into the custody of a responsible party.

5. On June 19, 2023, at approximately 7:34 p.m., Sgt. Wilfredo Gomez and Police Officer Cynthia Rivera responded to Hoboken University Medical Center on reports of possible narcotics found on a patient. The officers received those items, which included approximately 156 wax folds containing suspected CDS heroin, divided into separate bundles and secured with rubber bands, which is how illegal drugs are commonly packaged for sale and distribution. 57- year-old Deborah Baker of North Bergen was placed under arrest and charged with possession of CDS heroin with intent to distribute, possession of CDS with intent to distribute within 1,000 feet from a school, possession of CDS with intent to distribute within 500 feet of a park, and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was issued a summons and released from police custody.

6. On June 19, 2023, at approximately 8:42 a.m., Police Officers David Chicara and Arturo Gonzalez responded to Hoboken Police Headquarters to meet with a car theft victim who believed his stolen car to be at Walgreens, 1300 Willow Ave. Officers Shelby Seickendick and Harry Montalvo took the initial theft report on June 17, 2023. Employees of Walgreens provided a description of a man who was seen near the vehicle. Officers located a man, later identified as 48-year-old Jose Luis Dones of Union City, who matched that description outside the store. Dones was arrested for receiving stolen property and transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.

7. On June 20, 2023, at approximately 4:25 p.m., Police Officer Ramon Estrella responded to the AT&T store, 106 Washington St., on reports of a man attempting to steal a cell phone. Employees and a customer were able to get the phone away from the suspect before he ran out of the store and provided Officer Estrella with a description. Port Authority Police Officers stopped a man who fit that description at the PATH Station. Sgt. Jason Falco and Police Officers Rose Kanan and Ricky Truppner arrived on scene and brought the suspect, later identified as 31-yearold Kevin Guzman of Franklin Lakes, to Hoboken Police Headquarters. While there, Guzman exposed his genitals and urinated on the floor. He was charged with criminal mischief and robbery. He was also charged on a warrant out of Wanaque for shoplifting.

8. On June 20, 2023, Hoboken Police Officers arrested 23-year-old Keshon Crandell of Hoboken when he turned himself into Police Headquarters in connection with an attempted murder on Sunday, June 18, 2023. A 2-day investigation by the Investigations Bureau into a report of shots fired identified Crandell as the suspect and a warrant was executed for his arrest. He was charged with criminal attempted murder, possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes, unlawful possession of a weapon, and causing or risking widespread injury. Crandell was also processed on an aggravated assault summons for his involvement in a street fight in Hoboken on May 7, 2023. Crandell was transferred to the Hudson County Correctional Facility. 9. On June 21, 2023, Detectives Andrew Perez and Vito Gigante responded to Shoprite, 900 Madison St., on reports of a shoplifting in progress. The officers observed a man, later identified as 23-year-old Jose Santiago of Hoboken, attempting to leave the store with two bags filled with items he did not pay for. He was arrested, transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters, and charged with shoplifting. Santiago was found to have active warrants out of Hoboken for shoplifting and possession with intent to use drug paraphernalia. He was transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.

All charges are merely accusations, and the defendants are presumed innocent unless, and until, proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
