Hassan Coleman, 36, of Hackensack, was taken into custody on December 23, 2022 at 9:17 A.M. in Hackensack by members of the Secaucus Police Department Anti-Crime Unit and Hackensack Police Department Narcotics Unit. The arrest culminated after a two and half month long narcotics investigation conducted by the Secaucus Police Department Anti-Crime Unit, under the supervision of Detective Sergeant Matthew Ford.
During a court-authorized search of Coleman’s Hackensack residence, Detectives seized over one half ounce of suspected cocaine, a quantity of suspected heroin, over fifty pills of suspected oxycodone, a Taurus Model 856 UL .38 caliber handgun with an obliterated serial number, hollow point bullets, along with $11,584.00 in US Currency, believed to be proceeds from his illicit drug distribution scheme. Additionally, evidence and paraphernalia was seized that was indicative that Coleman was using his Hackensack residence to process powder cocaine into crack/cocaine.
“This arrest is another clear example that the Secaucus Police Department will continue target criminals, regardless of where they reside, who come into Secaucus to commit their nefarious activity,” Chief Dennis Miller said. “I am proud of the work of my Anti-Crime Unit and I will continue to give them the support and resources they need to succeed. I want to thank the members of the Hackensack Police Narcotics Unit and the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit who assisted in this arrest.”
Hassan Coleman was charged with three counts of Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance [2C:35-10a(1)], Possession with the Intent to Distribute Cocaine [2C:35-5b(2)], Possession with the Intent to Distribute Oxycodone [2C:35-5b(4)], Possession with the Intent to Distribute within 500 feet of a Public Park [2C:35-7.1a], Maintaining a CDS Production Facility [2C:35-4], Possession with the Intent to Distribute Drug Paraphernalia [2C:36-3], Unlawful Possession of a Handgun [2C:39-5b(1)], Possession of a Firearm while Committing a CDS Offense [2C:39-4.1], Possession of a Defaced Firearm [2C:39-3d], Certain Persons not to Possess a Firearm [2C:39-7b(1)], Unlawful Possession of Handgun Ammunition [2C:58-3.3b], Money Laundering [2C:21-25a], Endangering the Welfare of a Child [2C:24-4a(2)] and Obstructing the Administration of Law [2C:29-1a]. Coleman also had a Traffic Warrant from Edgewater with a bail of $550.00. He was lodged in the Bergen County Jail.
