Full-Time Treatment Plant Operator Opportunity Available

JOB TITLE: Treatment Plant Operator
STARTING SALARY: 37,131.50
JOB DESCRIPTION: Perfonns the routine work involved in operating and maintaining the proper functioning of the Secaucus Wastewater Treatment Facility and related pumping stations and collection system at the direction of the Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent and/or Foreman. Duties involve performing routine sampling and laboratory analysis, operation(s) of unit process systems, performing corrective and preventative maintenance. Also must be able to perform building and grounds maintenance duties. 12-8; 8-4; or 12-8 shift Sunday- Saturday.

REQUIREMENTS:

1. Ability to read, write, understand and communicate in English sufficiently to pe1form the duties of the position.
2. The appointee must have a valid New Jersey driver's license. Experience with snow plowing is preferable.
3. The facility operates 24 hours/day, every day of the year and applicants should be prepared to work a shift schedule, which may include work on Saturdays, Sundays and/or Holidays with comparable time given off during other days of the week.
4. All new appointees shall hold a high school diploma or equivalency.
5. Ability to perform confined space entry (when properly trained).

While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works in outside weather conditions and in underground structures (including, but not limited to, entry of confined spaces such as manholes). The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals as labeled under "Right to Know" New Jersey State Law, extreme cold, risk of electrical shock, and vibration.

The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
