Passport Book Fee Increase Update

Hudson County, NJ- The United States Department of State announced on Monday, December 27, 2021, that the fee for a passport book will be increased by $20.00. There is no increase in fee, however, for a passport card or expedited services. The increased fee "is necessary to ensure we continue to produce one of the most secure travel and identity documents in the world," according to the State Department' s Twitter account: Travel - State Dept @TravelGov.

The new passport fees are as follows:
  • The cost of a first-time adult passport book is now $165 which is comprised of a $130 application fee and a $35 acceptance fee.
  • The cost for renewing an adult passport book is now $130.
  • The price for a minor passport book for those under age 16 is now $135 which is comprised of a $100 application fee and a $35 acceptance fee.
