During the week of May 6, 2019, PSE&G crews will:
· replace gas main and services on Front Street at Humboldt Street from 7:00 to 4:00 PM. Front Street. will be open to alternating traffic
· replace gas main and services on Arch Ave. at Hops Lane from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Arch Ave. will be closed except for transportation related to school, emergency responders and clients of assisted services
· replace gas main and services on Second Street at Centre Ave. from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Second Street will be closed except for transportation related to school, emergency responders and clients of assisted services
· replace gas main and services on Chestnut Street at Raydol Ave. from 7:00 AM too 4:00 PM. Chestnut Street will be closed except for transportation related to school, emergency responders and clients of assisted services
· replace gas main and services on Koelle Boulevard @ Central Lane. from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Koelle Boulevard will be closed except for transportation related to school, emergency responders and clients of assisted services
This project is part of the PSE&G Gas System Modernization Program (GSMP) to replace aging cast iron and unprotected steel gas mains in order to support a safe, clean and reliable gas system.
The mains and services will be replaced with stronger more durable materials which are much less likely to have leaks and release methane gas.
The new elevated pressure systems also enable the installation of excess flow valves that dramatically reduce gas flow if a service line is damaged, and provide better support for the use of high-efficiency appliances.
