SUMMARY: The purpose of this position under the direction of the CFO and Director of Finance is to perform analytical and financial functions involved in the day-to-day activities of the analysis of accounting activities, budget preparation, review and maintenance within the Department.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS including, but not limited to the following:
- Assist the CFO and Finance Director in the development of the municipal budget and monitor expenditure and revenue accounts.
- Prepare and handle wire transfers.
- Process bills and create purchase orders.
- Prepare and review monthly bill list.
- Prepare fiscal and other financial reports.
- Prepare financial, purchasing, and ad hoc reports.
- Ensure all payments are applied to appropriate accounts/departments.
- Prepare requests for records, information, generate reports and applications.
- Perform month-end procedures.
- Post and reconciles monthly general ledger.
- Handle other essential tasks as assigned.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- High School diploma required or equivalent, college degree preferred.
- Minimum five (5) years' experience in an accounting/finance related field with equivalent experiences required.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with an emphasis on attention to details.
- Possess experience in the financial projection methods.
- Possess experience to prepare, review, and maintain budget.
- Experience in reconciliation of various financial accounts.
- Possess experience in the budget process, general ledger reconciliation and fiscal analysis.
- Experience in the transfer of appropriations.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills; able to disseminate information relating to the operations in a professional, concise, and consistent manner.
- Possess excellent interpersonal and customer services skills; interact courteously and tactfully with the public and other personnel.
- Strong math aptitude in calculation, complying and preparing financial reports.
- Must possess strong technical skills, including a proficiency in Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Access) and other financial/accounting database systems.
