Although there are still new cases of COVID-19 being reported in Secaucus on a daily basis, the number of new cases overall continue to consistently decrease. So the infection rate is definitely on a downward trend. While this is obviously good news, there were sadly new coronavirus related deaths reported once again. Over the past three weeks, the total number of COVID-19 cases grew from 2,349 cases to 2,511 cases, which averages to 54 new cases per week. The previous average was 78 new cases per week, so the infection rate in Secaucus has dropped by another 30.8% in the last few weeks. As can be seen in the shape of the graph above, this continues Secaucus' trend in flattening the curve. Even though there is still a long way to go before the pandemic is behind us, it does seem like the worse is over, especially as more and more people become eligible to get the vaccine. Currently, the Secaucus school board is planning out how the rest of the school year will be conducted in regards to in-person learning. Although it is most likely that many students will continue exclusively with remote learning for the rest of the academic year, all signs point to the fact that schools will return to 100% in-person learning for the 2021-2022 school year. If/when that happens, life may finally be able to return to a sense of normalcy for the children in Secaucus as well as parents who had to stay home with their kids during these trying times.
