Like other parts of New Jersey, Secaucus continues to see a high number of new COVID-19 cases this week. The infection rate currently isn't as high as during the height of the pandemic back in April, but it is the highest it's been in the past five months. See the details in the graph below. Over the last seven days, the total number of reported coronavirus cases in Secaucus grew from 773 to 811. This means that there were 38 new cases this week, the same number of new cases as the previous week. So the good news is that the infection rate has not increased during this past week. The bad news, however, is that the current infection rate is already fairly high. (This can be seen in the graph above where the slope of the curve continues to point upward.) As a result, the Secaucus School Board recently decided to
revert to all remote learning for its students. Additionally, New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy just annunced that tighter restrictions may have to be reinstituted to stop the rising numbers in New Jersey as a whole. So it looks like we will have to wait a little longer before being able to return to normalcy.
