For the second week in a row, the number of newly reported COVID-19 cases in Secaucus rose by 20 or more cases. In the last seven days, the total number of coronavirus cases went up from 715 to to 735, meaning that there were 20 new cases reported this week. Although this number is slightly smaller than last week's increase of 24 new cases, it is obvious at this point that Secaucus is now experiencing a second wave of the virus. This can be easily seen in the graph above from the shape of the curve alone. In fact, the
Hudson Regional Health Commision just issued a statement warning the public about this uptick for the county as a whole.
At least for now, the good news is that the current infection rate in Secaucus is no where near as high as it was during the height of the outbreak back in April. But with the combination of the cooler temperatures, schools and businesses reopening, and the general population becoming more lax about safety guidelines, the infection might very well continue to increase. So Secaucus residents need to remain vigilant regarding safety protocols in order to prevent this second wave from getting any worse.
