This week, there was a higher than usual number of new COVID-19 cases reported in Secaucus, but the good news is that there were no newly reported deaths. See the details in the graph below. (Click on any of the data points to see daily statistics.)

The number of new coronavirus cases grew by 1.2% as it increased from 661 last week to 669 this week. Although this is a higher than usual number, we have seen small spikes like this before, and it has ended up being one-off irregularities. So there is no reason to be concerned unless we see a continued increase in the next two to three weeks. If that happens, then we might need to look into whether the recent reopenings of restaurants, theaters, and especially schools may have played a factor. But until then, Secaucus' slow reopening of businesses and facilities seems to be working. This past week, the recreation center was added to the list of facilities that have reopened although it is by appointment only. Hopefully, this gradual approach will soon allow us to return to life as it was before the virus.
