The Mayor and Town Council Announce an Eviction Prevention Program

If you are facing eviction or unable to pay rent, help may be available through an Eviction Prevention Program. Applications will open August 24th through September 2nd. If you cannot apply online, please call Social Services at 201-330-2014 for an appointment to apply in-person. Download Flyer for more information.

The Hudson County Eviction Prevention Application will be available from 8:00 AM August 24 through 5:00 PM September 2, 2020.

The application is accessible on a smart phone, tablet or computer. Click REGISTER on the top right to create an account and get started. You will need the following documents to be uploaded:
  • Copy of Lease
  • Documentation you are facing eviction (if available)
  • Income documentation

If you are unable to apply electronically, you may visit the Office of Social Services at 145 Front Street to apply in person. Please call 201-330-2014 for an appointment. You may also visit the Hudson County Division of Welfare at 257 Cornelison Avenue in Jersey City. Bring your Copy of Lease, documentation you are facing eviction (if available) and documentation of all sources of income.

Eligibility Requirements:
  • Must be a Hudson County resident
  • Must show the need for rental assistance due to COVID-19
  • Tenant must have been current on rent as of March 1, 2020
  • Must document ability to pay rent after assistance is provided
  • Household income must fall below the following income limits:

    2 $63,150
    3 $71,050
    4 $78,900
    5 $85,250
    6 $91,550
    7 $97,850
    8 104,150
