Unfortunately, the number of new coronavirus cases reported is slightly higher this week when compared to the previous few weeks. However, the curve is still relatively flat as New Jersey continues to be one of the states that seem to be over the hump of the pandemic. See the details in the graph below. The number of COVID-19 cases reported in Secaucus grew from 637 cases last week to 642 cases this week. As previously mentioned, this increase of 5 new cases is higher than what we have seen in the previous few weeks. (There were only two new cases during the week of 6/25 to 7/2 as well as during the week of 7/2 to 7/9.) But in terms of percentages, these 5 additonal cases only works out to be a 0.8% increase in the rate of infection. So overall, Secaucus' numbers still look good. This is especially true when you consider that there were no coronavirus related deaths this week.
It was recently decided by the Secaucus Board of Education that schools would
partially reopen in September for the 2020-2021 school year. Although plans might still change over the next few weeks, the current numbers do suggest that kids will be able to safely return to school in the fall, even if only on a part time basis.
