Last week, we saw the number of coronavirus cases grow consistently for two weeks in a row. Although the rate of increase was relatively low compared to the height of the pandemic, this was still a bad sign as it shows that businesses reopening were once again causing the virus to spread. This week, however, there were no new cases reported, which means that the curve is flattening out again. (See graph below. Click on any of the data points to see specific details.)
Just as important as there being no new cases, there were also no additional COVID-19 related deaths reported this week. These latest statistics bring a sigh of relief as they suggest that we can indeed return to life as usual eventually. The question now is just whether the count will remain low over the next few months.
Currently, the warmer summer temperatures are probably helping limit the transmission of the disease, but what about the fall when kids return to school? That is the question on the minds of many Secaucus residents. And hopefully, the statistics over the next few weeks will continue to indicate that there won't be a second wave of the coronavirus outbreak..
