As shown in the graph below, the number of Coronavirus cases in Secaucus did go back up, but it was only by a small amount. (Click on any of the data points in the graph to see specific details.) Now that businesses are beginning to reopen, a small increase is not surprising. This is obviously a sign, though, that we can easily slip backwards. So everyone needs to remain vigilant in doing their part to limit the spread.
During the past week, the number of Coronavirus cases reported in Secaucus increased by 2.8%, growing from 599 cases to 616 cases. Although this matches the peak number from two weeks ago, this doesn't mean that we are back at the height of the pandemic. Even with this higher number, the graph above shows that the curve has begin to "flatten". In other words, the spread of the virus has significantly slowed down. So although there were new cases reported this week, the situation overall is very much heading in the right direction. But of course, these new cases also prove that the virus is still spreading, especially now that businesses are reopening. Therefore, as seen in other parts of the country, the situation can still go either way. Also, many health experts believe that the spread of COVID-19 will pick up again in the fall. That's why many school districts are still unsure of how to plan for the 2020 - 2021 school year. So it is still vital to try to stop the spread of the disease as much as possible now.
On a side note, there was a jump in the number of Coronavirus related deaths reported this week. This was due to a delay in the statistical data, and the majority of those deaths actually occurred in April.
