Posted Fri, May 1, 2020, By Staff Writer
Although Coronavirus related restrictions are beginning to loosen on a state level, the local statistics for Secaucus show that the spread of the virus hasn't slowed down significantly. As seen in the graph below, the slope of the curve has remained the same for the most part, which means that the rate of infection is still relatively high. (Click on any of the data points in the graph to see specific details.)

Compared to the same day last week, the number of Coronavirus cases in Secaucus went up from 351 to 436. That's an increase of 24.2%. Although that is a slight drop compared to the previous week's 29.0%, it is still high compared to the rest of the state. On a much more uplifting note, though, the number of COVID-19 related deaths only went up by 17.6% this week. While that may sound high, it is actually a huge improvement compared to the previous week's 88.9%. This is an encouraging sign that the worst may be behind us. Hopefully, the rate of new cases will soon follow suit.
