The first case of COVID-19 in Secaucus was reported on March 20. That was just two weeks ago. Since then, that number has exploded to 102 at the time of this writing. As Mayor Mike Gonnelli has said, however, this is to be expected. The rate of increase is inline with what the rest of the country is seeing. So the outbreak is not especially prevalent in Secaucus.
At this point, everyone in the country is anxious to know when things can get back to normal. The best way to determine this is to plot the data we have so far in order to show when the apex of the pandemic is reached. To that effect, below is a graph plotting the number of Secaucus residents who have been infected as well as those who have died from Coronavirus related causes. Click on any of the data points in the graph to see specific details.
As can be seen in the graph above, the slope of the curve is still pretty steep. This unfortunately suggests that the rate of infection among Secaucus residents has yet to slow down. Now that everyone is staying at home for the most part, though, this will hopefully improve. Updated versions of this graph will be posted in the upcoming days and weeks as the situation progresses,. If we are lucky, we will begin to see a change in the shape of the curve above soon.
