Police Procedural Changes Due to Coronavirus

Posted Thu, Mar 19, 2020, From Secaucus Police
The Secaucus Police Department just issued the following press release:

All medical calls are being screened pursuant to CDC guidelines. Officers will limit entry into private residences, especially for non-life threatening medical calls to limit their potential exposure to this virus. Officers will not enter doctor’s office on a medical call, it will be requested that the patient be escorted outside the doctor’s office by medical staff.

Upon receiving a call for service that is non emergent the call taker will gather all identifying information from the reporting person over the telephone and let them know that an officer will contact him/her via telephone to take the report. The same procedure shall be followed for walk in reports to limit unnecessary contact w
ith the general public. An officer will telephonically gather all pertinent information and complete the report.
Citizens are asked to come outside their residence when responding to calls that require a police response to their home. If a citizen sees any emergency service personnel (police, fire, ems) wearing protective gear, do not be alarmed, they are taking precautionary safety measures.

THE POLICE WILL RESPOND TO ALL EMERGENCY CALLS INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO CRIMES IN PROGRESS, CRIMES AGAINST PEOPLE AND CRIMES AGAINST PROPERTY.

The safety of our residents are our paramount concern.
