Secaucus School Closings in Preparation for Coronavirus

Posted Tue, Mar 10, 2020, By Staff Writer
Although there are no confirmed cases of Coronavirus in Secaucus at this time, the Board of Education is being proactive in preparing a contingency plan in case local schools have to close for an extended period of time. The effort will include remote classes and/or home schooling. Students in Secaucus HIgh School and Secaucus MIddle School are already issued Chromebooks which they take home on a daily basis. The school board will make full use of this to make remote learning easier for these students.

To train the school faculty and staff on this contingency plan, all Secaucus public schools will hold special one session days on the following dates:
Thursday, 3/12 for the Secaucus Middle and High Schools
Friday, 3/13 for Pre-K and elementary schools
Monday, 3/16 for the Secaucus Middle and High Schools
Tuesday, 3/17 for Pre-K and elementary schools

During these days, students will be dismissed at the following times:
Secaucus High School - 11:40 AM
Secaucus Middle School - 11:40 AM
Clarendon School - 12:30 PM
Huber Street School - 12:30 PM

While the students are dismissed, the school faculty and staff will properly plan and prepare for the off chance that schools have to be closed. Aftercare WILL BE available during the days listed above.
