1. On April 3rd, 2025, during a motor vehicle stop, members of the Guttenberg Police
Department’s Patrol Division arrested 31-year-old Luis D. Dextre-Mendoza of West New
York, NJ, after discovering that he had an active warrant, issued by the Guttenberg
Municipal Court. Mr. Dextre-Mendoza was then transported to the Guttenberg Police
Department for his arrest processing. Upon the completion of his arrest processing, Mr.
Dextre-Mendoza was issued traffic summonses and then released on his own
recognizance, pending his next court appearance with the Guttenberg Municipal Court.
2. On April 4th, 2025, while members of the Guttenberg Police Department’s Patrol
Division were driving their patrol vehicle near the corner of 70th Street and John F.
Kennedy Boulevard, a male opened their rear passenger door and sat inside of their
patrol vehicle. After numerous attempts to inform the male that he needed to exit the
vehicle, the male refused. At that time, 45-year-old Mishel D. Sarmiento of Jersey City,
NJ, was arrested for criminal trespass [2C:18-3A]. Mr. Sarmiento was then transported
to the Guttenberg Police Department for his arrest processing. Upon the completion of
his arrest processing, Mr. Sarmiento was issued his complaint summons and then
released into the care of staff from the Palisades Medical Center.
The charges above are merely accusations. Every defendant is presumed
innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
