1. On February 6, 2025, at approximately 6:45 p.m., Police Officers Leroy Sherrill and Police
Officer Trevor Thomas were on patrol when they saw a man on the 600 block of Willow Avenue
who they recognized as 34-year-old Armando Torres of Jersey City. They knew Torres had two
active warrants for his arrest related to two package thefts the night before. One was on the 1000
block of Bloomfield and the other was on the 200 block of 11th Street. A follow-up investigation
identified Torres as the actor. He was arrested, transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters for
processing on theft charges, and ultimately taken to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.
2. On February 9, 2025, at approximately 4:40 a.m., Police Officers Carmen Benitez and Jayden
Gonzalez were conducting a detail check at TD Bank, 47 Newark St., when they found two men
laying inside the vestibule. One of the men, identified as 54-year-old Donald Gilbert Jr. of
Bayonne, was told not to return to the vestibule, given a summons for defiant trespassing, and
released from custody. The second man, later identified as 43-year-old Robert Hayward of
Hoboken, was found to have a warrant out of Springfield Township for defiant trespassing, one
out of Hoboken for hindering apprehension, and another out of Raritan Borough for burglary.
Officer Matthew Bonanno arrived to assist. Hayward was transported to Hoboken Police
Headquarters and further charged with defiant trespassing. He was processed and transported to
the Hudson County Correctional Facility.
3. On February 8, 2025, at approximately 7:30 a.m., Sgt. Dennis Figueroa and Police Officers
Carmen Benitez, Jayden Gonzalez, and Mark Mooreman responded to TD Bank, 47 Newark St.,
on reports of someone smoking a cigarette inside the vestibule. They located 48-year-old Stacey
Butler of Bloomfield inside. She was told not to return to the vestibule, given a summons for
defiant trespassing, and released from custody.
4. On February 10, 2025, at approximately 1:15 a.m., Police Officers Alexander Miller and
Valentino Salgado were conducting a sweep of a Hoboken Housing Authority (HHA) building
on the 300 block of Marshall Drive, when they encountered a man, they recognized as 52-year-old Enrique Ramirez of Jersey City, on the first floor. While they were questioning him, another
man, later identified as 55-year-old Antonio Melendez of Hoboken exited the stairwell. Police
Officers Nair Willey, Jaydan Gonzalez, Carmen Benitez, and Mark Mooreman arrived on the
scene to assist. It was revealed Ramirez had three warrants for his arrest in Jersey City. A search
incident to arrest of Ramirez revealed a knife, a glass cylindrical pipe, a metal push rod, and
copper mesh. Ramirez was further charged with certain persons not permitted to carry a weapon,
possession of drug paraphernalia, and defiant trespassing. Melendez was placed under arrest for
trespassing, and a search incident to arrest located three capped hypodermic needles and a folded
piece of paper with a brown powdery substance suspected to be CDS heroin. Melendez was
charged with possession of CDS, possession of hypodermic needle, and defiant trespassing. They
were both transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters and processed, before ultimately being
transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.
5. On February 10, 2025, at approximately 4:40 a.m., Police Officers Carmen Benitez and Mark
Mooreman were on routine patrol conducting a detail check at Blue Foundry Bank, 334
Washington St., when they found a man, later identified as 35-year-old Raheem Kellam of New
York City, sleeping inside of the vestibule. It was learned he had a warrant out of Hamilton
Township for theft of services and another out of Atlantia, GA for shoplifting. He was
transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters, given a summons for defiant trespassing, and later
released from custody.
6. On February 10, 2025, at approximately 4:45 p.m., Sgt. Harold Milne and Police Officers
Vincent Guastini, David Smentkowski, and Ahmed Makshat were on the 300 block of
Bloomfield Street when they saw a man, later identified as 60-year-old John Tracy of Hoboken,
light a glass cylindrical tube with a large hollow bulb at the end and inhale. Training and
expertise led them to conclude he was actively using illegal narcotics. Tracy was arrested and a
search incident to arrest found a container with residue believed to be CDS. He was transported
to Hoboken Police Headquarters and charged with possession of CDS and possession of drug
paraphernalia. He was found to have a warrant out of Secaucus. He was ultimately transported to
the Hudson County Correctional Facility.
7. On February 10, 2025, at approximately 6:25 p.m., Police Officer Kyle Seper observed a
vehicle parked, but still running, in a “no stopping/no standing” zone at the corner of Sinatra
Drive and Hudson Street. It was discovered the owner of the vehicle had multiple warrants.
Officer Seper pulled the car over and approached the driver, later identified as 22-year-old Paul
Bradley of Irvington. Bradley was unable to produce insurance information and a valid
registration. Lt. Michael Costello and Police Officers Zachary Guido and Joseph Lupo arrived to
assist. Bradley was arrested on an outstanding warrant from Irvington and was issued three
motor vehicle summonses, before being transported to Irvington Police Headquarters.
8. On February 11, 2025, at approximately 1:30 a.m., Sgt. Michael Losurdo was patrolling the
area of the Hoboken Housing Authority (HHA), when he saw two men, both of whom he knew
were not residents of HHA. When the men saw the patrol car, they attempted to avoid the officer,
but he stopped them on the 600 block of Monroe Street. Police Officers Valentino Salgado,
Daniela Simone, Carmen Benitez, Mark Mooreman, Jaydan Gonzalez, and Zachary Guido
arrived on the scene to assist. An on-scene investigation revealed both men had drug
paraphernalia on them, and they were placed under arrest. A search incident to arrest located
more paraphernalia in their clothes. Both were transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters,
where it was learned that while on the scene, they had both given officers' fake names. Their
identities were confirmed to be 26-year-old Jose Najera of Hoboken and 30-year-old Edgar
Najera of Hoboken. Jose Najera had two open warrants; one out of Union City and the other out
of Hoboken. He was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, hindering apprehension of
law, and bail jumping. Edgar Najera had three warrants; two out of Hoboken and one from
Jersey City. He was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, hindering apprehension, and
bail jumping. They were both transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.
9. On February 11, 2025, at approximately 6:30 p.m., Police Officer Kyle Seper was traveling
on Newark Street, when he saw a car illegally parked and blocking the intersection of Newark
and Court Streets. It was learned that the vehicle registration was suspended, and the registered
owner may have an outstanding warrant. The car was pulled over and the driver, later identified
as 21-year-old Elmer Roman of Cliffside Park, provided his documents. Sgt. Roary Miller, Sgt.
Daniel Grossi, and Police Officer Matthew Bonano arrived on the scene to assist. It was
confirmed that Roman had a warrant out of Mountainside. Roman was transported to Hoboken
Police Headquarters, processed on the warrant, and released with a new court date in
Mountainside.
10. On February 12, 2025, at approximately 12:45 a.m., Police Officers Aaron Font and
Alexander Miller were on patrol near the intersection of Second and Jackson Streets when they
saw two men walk onto Hoboken Housing Authority (HHA)) property and enter a residential
building on the 600 block of Sixth Street. After a building sweep, they located the two men
outside. When the individuals saw the officers, they began to walk away at a fast speed but were
stopped on the 500 block of Marshall Drive. Police Officers Ronald Kibitlewski, Jayden
Gonzalez, and Valentino Salgado arrived on scene to assist. One of the men, later identified as
34-year-old Christopher Peselli of Hoboken, was given a summons for defiant trespassing, told
not to return to HHA without a valid reason, and released from custody. The other man, later
identified as 34-year-old Gregory Freitas of Hoboken, originally gave officers a fake name. A
search incident to arrest located a glass cylindrical tube with a burnt end and steel wool inside
and a metallic push rod. He was charged with hindering apprehension, possession of drug
paraphernalia, and defiant trespassing. He was ultimately transported to the Hudson County
Correctional Facility.
11. On February 12, 2025, at approximately 7:33 a.m., Sgt. Robert Roman and Police Officers
Ronald Kibitlewski and Valentino Salgado responded to Hoboken University Medical Center,
308 Willow Ave., on reports of an argument during which someone threatened someone else
with a knife. When they arrived, security had already thrown the individual making the threats
out of the hospital. An on-scene investigation revealed a man being discharged became angry
and made threats to come back with a gun and shoot people in the hospital. Reports of a knife
were unfounded. During the investigation, the individual, later identified as 57-year-old James
Farrell of Hackensack, came back and he was pointed out to officers. Farrell was arrested for
making terroristic threats. He was transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters for processing
and released on a summons.
12. On February 12, 2025, at approximately 9:55 p.m., Detectives Connor Milne and Fabian
Quinones and Police Officers Ramon Calderon, Anthony Azzoline, and Roberto Cuevas
responded to the residence of 62-year-old Anthony Rhodes of Hoboken to arrest him on a
warrant for package theft on Feb. 3. A follow-up investigation by Officer Calderon identified
Rhodes as the actor. When officers knocked on his door, Rhodes refused to open it. After
continuing to refuse opening the door after being told to do so multiple times, he was identified
as a barricaded subject. After some time, Rhodes unlocked the door, and the officer entered his
apartment. He was arrested and transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters. During a search, a
plastic bag containing a trace of an unknown substance fell out of his sock. He was charged with
obstruction and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was processed on the active warrant and
transported to the Hudson County Correctional Center.
