On March 2, 2025 at 3:19 P.M., the Secaucus Police responded to the Rodeway Inn, 155 Route 3 East, on a report of a victim being held against their will in a room while one of his/her captors was threatening him/her with a hypodermic needle.

When police arrived at the room they located the adult victim and escorted him/her to safety, while simultaneously detaining two males, identified as Kevin Bazemore and Brandon Bialek. The on-scene investigation revealed that Kevin Bazemore physically restrained the victim, who was known to him, and would not allow the victim to leave the hotel room for over two hours. Additionally, Brandon Bialek sat in front of the hotel room door while holding a large needle in an effort to prevent the victim from leaving the room. The two were subsequently arrested.

Responding patrol officers observed quantities of narcotics and drug paraphernalia in plain view strewn around the room. Detectives from the Secaucus Police Anti-Crime Unit, supported by the Secaucus Police K-9 Unit, later executed a Court Authorized search of the room and seized over one ounce of suspected methamphetamine along with quantities of suspected cocaine and GHB (Gamma Hydroxybutyrate). Additionally, various quantities of prescription legend drugs were seized.

“Nefarious acts at our hotels will not be tolerated,” Chief Dennis Miller said. “These arrests are a vivid example of how the various divisions and units of the Secaucus Police Department work collaboratively to support one another toward our common goal and I am extremely proud of their work.”

Kevin Bazemore, 44, of Hackensack and Brandon Bialek, 39, of Lodi were each charged with Kidnapping [2C:13-1b(2)], Conspiracy to Commit Kidnapping [2C:5-2a(1)/2C:13-1b(2)], Criminal Restraint [2C:13-2(a)] and Conspiracy to Commit Criminal Restraint [2C:5-2a(1)/2C:13-2(a).] Kevin Bazemore was also charged with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia [2C:36-2].
