The Center for Lifelong Learning at Sussex County Community College (SCCC), a
collaboration between the Sussex County Department of Health and Human Services, Division of Senior
Services and Sussex County Community College, is hosting a lecture and classes during the month of March.
Free Lecture: Positive Psychology – A Happiness Presentation! Join Professor Rich Linden,
M.A., on Friday, March 28, 2025, at 2:00 p.m., in the Atrium of the Performing Arts Center at SCCC to learn
how the lessons of Positive Psychology can increase your feelings of personal well-being and how you can

Hands on Learning: Introduction to Drawing. This five-part class will emphasize the
development of observational drawing skills and hand-eye coordination. Basic drawing elements such as line,
proportion, perspective, composition, texture, and the study of light and shade will be investigated through
various perceptual and conceptual approaches. Professor Michael Hughes is a practicing artist and member of
the Fine Arts Faculty at SCCC. Classes will be held in the Art Gallery, Room C106 (located by the entrance
to the “B” Building) at 10:00 a.m. on Saturdays: March 15, March 22, March 29, April 5 and April 12,
2025. The cost of the course is $30.00. Attendees should park behind the Horton Mansion or in the main

Become a Community Journalist in Your Hometown! For the second year in a row, the Center
will be offering a free Community Journalist Certificate focusing on helping community members develop
the skills and smarts needed when it comes to serving as community journalists, covering community-centered news happening in their hometowns and county. The course is available in-person and online
beginning March 18, 2025. The in-person workshops will meet eight (8) consecutive Tuesdays on the SCCC
campus. The online version of the certificate course is offered asynchronously. Professor Cheryl Conway,
who is also a practicing community reporter and a newspaper editor, will be the instructor. Participants
should be computer-savvy. Classes will be held in the SCCC Media Center from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. on
Tuesdays: March 18, March 25, April 1, April 8, April 15, April 22, April 29 and May 6, 2025. It is
recommended that attendees park in the upper parking lot behind the L Building. Walk across the pedestrian
bridge that connects the Library Building and take the elevator to the first floor. Upon exiting the building,

Come See the Show: “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown”. The SCCC Visual and Performing
Arts Department presents the spring musical “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown.” The cartoon comic strip
celebrates its 75th anniversary in 2025. Come out and celebrate with Charlie Brown and his friends in the
Peanuts gang.
The Center for Lifelong Learning welcomes back a crowd favorite, lunch and a matinee show! The
matinee is scheduled for Saturday, April 5, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at the College’s Performing Arts Center. The
price is $45.00 for lunch and the show. Attendees will be seated at the Arbor Restaurant between 11:00
a.m. and 11:30 a.m. with service beginning at 11:30 a.m., with plenty of time to attend the 2:00 p.m. matinee.
Seating is limited for the luncheon.
