Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Passaic County Sheriff Thomas Adamo announce that on February 28, 2025, at approximately 12:50 p.m., members of the Passaic County Sheriff’s Office responded to Garrett Mountain Reservation on a report of an unresponsive male. When officers arrived, they found the body of Martin Mendoza, a 20-year-old male from Paterson. The deceased is pending an investigation by the Medical Examiner’s Office to determine the cause of death.

Although this matter remains an active and ongoing investigation, there are no suspects being sought at this time, and there is no danger to the public.
