2/22/2023 09:13 PM, (Arrest - Adult)
A Patrolman located a vehicle on Essex Street without a front plate. A motor vehicle stop was conducted; however, the driver could not display a form of identification. The subject, a 24-year-old male from Paterson, was found to have provided a false name. He was arrested, charged with Hindering Apprehension, issued (4) motor vehicle summonses, and released.

2/22/2023 1:54 PM, (Fraud)
A resident of Rochelle Avenue reported being the victim of YouTube TV scam. The victims received an email reporting to be from YouTube TV, which claimed the customers were delinquent on a bill. Arrangements were made through "Zelle" and "Anydesk", which provided access to the victims' bank accounts. A small loss was reported prior to blocking access, the detective bureau was notified.

2/22/2023 8:13 PM, (Fraud)
A party responded to headquarters to report a fraud that was initiated on a company phone. Victim received a text message who she believed to be from her company CEO, requesting the purchase of (2) gift cards. A photo of both the front and back of the cards was requested (NEVER SEND GIFT CARDS TO AN ONLINE REQUESTER). After sending the image, fraud was suspected and the victim was able to put a hold on the value of the gift cards. The matter was turned over to detectives.

2/23/2023 6:39 AM, (Arrest - Adult)
A 43-year-old male from Greenwood Lake, NY, responded to headquarters to turn himself in on an open arrest warrant. The warrant stemmed from a violation of a temporary restraining order. The subject was arrested, processed, and committed to the Bergen County Jail.

2/23/2023 9:55 AM, (Arrest - Juvenile)
A patrol officer observed a stolen Dodge Durango on Rochelle Avenue. A motor vehicle stop was attempted, however, the drive fled at a high rate of speed on Route 17 South. A pursuit ensued and was ultimately terminated after the driver refused to surrender. A short time later the actor was apprehended in Newark. The arrestee, a 16-year-old juvenile male, was charged with delinquency complaints and committed to an Essex County Delinquency Center.

2/23/2023 6:01 PM, (DWI Arrest)
Patrol received a report of a motor vehicle accident on Cedar Drive off of Passaic Street. One of the drivers, a 59-year-old female from Cleverdale, NY, was suspected of alcohol intoxication. The subject was arrested and refused to submit samples of her breath. Several summonses were issued including DWI and Refusal to Submit to a Breath Test, and she was released to a family member.

2/24/2023 2:34 PM, (Suspicious Occurrence)
A DPW employee reported a male party carried a cat into the library. The party was located and advised that only service animals are permitted in the Municipal Building. The party complied.

2/25/2023 2:02 AM, (Breach of Peace)
A caller reported a dispute at a Route 17 gas station. Responding patrol located the weekly dispute between passenger and ride sharing services. The passenger was reported to be unruly and was asked to exit the vehicle. Patrol provided a courtesy transport to a nearby location.

2/25/2023 9:33 PM, (Suspicious Occurrence)
A caller from Howard Avenue reported receiving an alert on his Ring Doorbell. The video revealed an unknown male party wearing a Fedora, entered the front door of his home. Upon making entry the male quickly left. The homeowner locked himself in his bedroom while awaiting a police response. Responding units quickly learned that next door neighbor was holding a "Fedora Party" and the person entered the wrong address.

2/26/2023 7:08 AM, (Trespassing)
A caller from Rochelle Avenue reported finding an unknown person inside his apartment. He confronted the individual, and the suspect fled out of a window, and onto a bicycle northbound on Rochelle Avenue. A detective investigation revealed the actor was a juvenile friend of the residents' juvenile daughter. The actor believed he was visiting his friend and has entered through the window in the past. Detectives met with the parents of both juveniles.

2/26/2023 4:27 PM, (Fraud)
A resident of Howard Avenue reported receiving tax documentation from a bank which they do not belong to. A call to the bank confirmed the residents were a victim of fraud. The complainant froze all their accounts and credit cards and appear to have avoided any financial loss. The identity theft was reported to multiple credit monitoring companies. Detectives were assigned.


A charge is not a conviction. All persons are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Charges can be amended or dismissed.
