A resident of East Passaic Street reported a fraudulent transaction on her bank account. An unknown party purchased an iPhone 14 for $1,278 without her permission. Apple Customer Service called to confirm and the transaction was frozen. Detectives were assigned

3/29/2023 9:10 AM, (Arrest - Adult)
A West Passaic Street restaurant reported someone actively stealing used cooking oil from an exterior holding tank. Responding patrol units located the tanker truck and initiated a motor vehicle stop. The 48-year-old male driver from Newark, could not provide proof authorizing the remove of oil. The subject was arrested, charged with burglary and theft, and committed to the Bergen County Jail. The vehicle and stolen proceeds were impounded

3/29/2023 2:22 PM, (Breach of Peace)
A Parkway medical facility reported a terminated employee created a disturbance. The former employee tore up papers, slammed doors, and made threats. The subject left prior to police arrival. Officers advised the complainants of the civilian complaint process, however, staff declined to pursue charges

3/31/2023 3:54 PM, (Fraud)
A resident of Forest Place responded to headquarters to report a possible online fraud. The 24-year-old female resident solicited an online psychic. Currency was exchanged, however, the complainant believed she was deceived, as she believed her demise was imminent should she not pay to light a candle. The complainant was advised that the case was unlikely to be considered criminal

3/31/2023 9:54 PM, (Suspicious Occurrence)
A resident of Chestnut Street reported an unknown male exited a white Ford pickup truck, rang his doorbell and yelled "Yo." The male approached several other residences and rang their doorbells. The male party left prior to police arrival, however, no crimes were reported in the area during the time frame in question

4/1/2023 10:02 PM, (Commitment)
A 45-year-old homeless male party walked in to headquarters to request commitment to a local hospital. The male complained of anxiety and sleep deprivation. EMS was dispatched an aid was rendered to the patient

4/2/2023 11:01 AM, (Burglary / Theft)
The owner of an Essex Street motorcycle dealership reported two vehicles were stolen from the parking lot. Two actors cut a hole in security fencing, entered the property and stole (2) dealership trucks. Detectives are reviewing surveillance footage and license plate readers for suspect identification

4/2/2023 9:57 PM, (DRE Evaluation)
An RPPD officer trained as a Drug Recognition Expert was requested to respond mutual aid for an evaluation. The officer responded to Alpine Police Department for assistance

4/3/2023 12:07 AM, (Arrest - Adult)
A patrol Sergeant stopped a vehicle on Essex Street. The driver, a 47-year-old male from Paterson, was found to possess an open NCIC arrest warrant. The driver was arrested for a Passaic County Sheriff's Department child support warrant

4/3/2023 3:07 PM, (Fraud / Theft)
A resident of Eldorado Court reported a fraud while working out at a Maywood gym. The victim left his phone in a locker room and an unknown party open it, and used the Zelle APP to send themselves $1,998.81. Maywood and Rochelle Park detectives were assigned

In addition, (12) suspicious persons/vehicles were vetted and (57) motor vehicle stops were conducted in a 7-day span.
