4/4/2023 7:12 AM, (Suspicious Occurrence
Multiple reports were logged indicating that a "sticky substance" was located on the inlet of (2) USPS mailboxes. One box was in front of the Post Office and the second box was located in front of a Rochelle Avenue strip mall. The Postal Inspector was notified and detectives are working together in the investigation.

A large contingent of officers attended the funeral services for a fallen Maywood Police Sergeant. The RPPD continues to standby and render aid for our brothers and sisters in Maywood. #39

4/4/2023 10:15 AM, (Auto Theft / Fraud
A Route 17 South Auto dealership reported a new vehicle was obtained fraudulently and removed from the lot. The vehicle, an SUV valued in excess of $50,000 was reported stolen and detectives are working to identify the actor(s).

4/4/2023 2:18 PM, (Welfare Check
School Administrators reported a 4-year-old student was picked up from school by a parent. The child left with the parent on a motorcycle and the child was not wearing a helmet. A welfare check on the student was conducted and a case was opened with the Division of Child Protection and Permanency.

4/5/2023 11:26 AM, (Suspicious Occurrence / Fire
A DPW employee reported a male party starting a fire at the base of a billboard on Grove Street. Patrol located the male, a 54-year-old from Brooklyn, who was burning biscuits due to a religious obligation. The fire department wet the entire brush filled area as a precaution. The male was educated on the dangers of arson and trespassing.

4/5/2023 12:43 PM, (Commitment
A West Passaic Street donut shop reported a male party was lingering inside for over 3 hours. The male, a 51-year-old from Wyckoff, was found to be highly intoxicated and was committed to a local hospital.

4/5/2023 11:48 PM, (DWI Arrest
Patrol located a Jeep on Railroad Avenue with a driver slumped over the steering wheel. An on-scene investigation revealed the male, a 38-year-old from Lodi, was under the influence of heroin. The driver was arrested and charged with DWI and narcotic related offenses. He was released to the custody of a family member.

4/6/2023 4:54 PM, (Auto Theft / Adult Arrest
A Bergen County resident reported her vehicle was stolen from the 2nd floor of a Route 17 parking garage. The vehicle, a Ford Explorer, was located later in the day, in North Bergen. An occupant of the vehicle was arrested at the time of the recovery. Detectives were able to identify the possessor of the vehicle as the same person who stole it. The actor, a 34-year-old male from Allendale, was charged with burglary and theft, and is currently housed in the Hudson County Jail.

4/7/2023 2:30 AM, (Arrest - Adult / Domestic Violence
A domestic dispute was reported at a residence on Central Avenue. Responding officers found a household member with an injury. A second household member was arrested and charged with simple assault.

4/7/2023 9:49 PM, (Fraud / Theft
A resident of Hackensack responded to headquarters to report a fraud on his mother's supermarket account. The male reported that an unknown party utilized his mother's points to acquire a free ham. The sister may be the culprit, and the complainant was advised to conduct an internal family investigation prior to police attention.

4/8/2023 11:35 PM, (Unwanted Person
A Route 17 restaurant reported a customer inappropriately attempting to touch employees(waitresses). The actor left prior to police arrival. Management refused to pursue a criminal investigation, however, the patron was barred from the establishment.

4/9/2023 8:32 PM, (Breach of Peace
An Overlook Avenue pizzeria reported an irate customer. The customer was upset over an error on his order, and he began to yell profanities and pound his fists on the counter. The customer was offered free items, however, he left prior to police arrival. The matter was documented.

In addition, (8) suspicious persons/vehicles were vetted and (38) motor vehicle stops were conducted in a 7-day span.


A charge is not a conviction. All persons are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Charges can be amended or dismissed.
