4/24/2023 2:19 PM, (Breach of Peace)
Patrol received multiple reports of a male and female arguing on foot on Route 17. The parties were located near a coffee shop and both denied having a dispute. The male party was uncooperative and refused to answer any questions. The female stated all was in order and the two were released.

4/24/2023 6:14 PM, (Assist other Agency)
A patrolman observed a Paramus radio transmission reporting two shoplifting suspects in the area of Plaza Way. The officer then observed a Paramus Officer physically struggling with a male party near a shopping mall. Rochelle Park Officers assisted in taking the male into custody and Paramus PD took control of the suspect.

4/27/202 5:58 PM, (Shoplifting)
The owner of a Route 17 fishing store reported a person who shoplifted in the past was currently in the store. Officers learned that a male from Paramus purchased a fishing rod earlier in the month. The rod became entangled in another rod and the customer walked out of the store with both rods. On this date the customer was confronted and denied the theft, he agreed to return home to search for the item. Civilian complaints are pending.

4/27/2023 8:06 PM, (Suspicious Occurrence)
A resident of Catherine Street reported a male and female party took landscaping rocks from his property. The resident reported he questioned the actors and they stated they believed the rocks were made available via a Facebook Marketplace post. The unknown actors returned the rocks and left prior to being identified.

4/28/2023 3:50 PM, (Welfare Check)
A caller reported his adult son is on a "heroin bender" and requested a welfare check on Durand Place. Patrol located the 33-year-old male, found him to be in sufficient health and requested he contact his father. The male refused any medical attention.

4/29/2023 4:08 PM, (Arrest - Adult)
A patrol officer observed a female party acting suspiciously on West Passaic Street. The female repeatedly approached a mail carrier parked near a convenience store. The mail carrier told police he just purchased a set of Apple Air Pods for $100. Police approached the suspects and found the Queens, NY residents to possess (13) additional sets of air pods. The 22 and 24-year-old NY residents were unable to provide proof of purchase and were both arrested for possession of stolen property. They were additionally issued summonses for soliciting without a permit and released pending a CJP court date.

4/30/2023 1:34 AM, (Commitment)
A caller reported a female party laying on her back in front of a Meakin Avenue residence. Patrol located the unconscious female and woke her up. The highly intoxicated female claimed to reside at the home in question, however, she could not produce identification nor did her keys work on the front door. Police were unable to locate any residents of the home, and for her safety she was committed to a local hospital.

4/30/2023 12:42 PM, (Vehicle Fire)
Multiple callers reported a vehicle on fire near the Central Avenue overpass of Route 17. Patrol located the vehicle, a Honda CRV, safely secured the operator, and the fire department extinguished the flames.

5/1/2023 1:49 PM, (Fraud)
A resident of Terrace Avenue reported applying for a Bank of America credit card, however, prior to receiving the card she was mailed a bill with almost $5000 worth of charges. The fraud was reported to the banks' fraud department and detectives were assigned.

5/1/2023 2:07 PM, (Breach of Peace)
Patrol received a report from a DPW employee who was involved in a discussion over the removal of a tree. A South Drive resident requested the DPW remove a tree that was not township property. The resident reportedly stated, "I will shoot you in the head if that tree falls." Patrol spoke to both parties, advised that the tree was not town property and instructed the complainant on the civilian complaint process.

5/1/2023 2:51 PM, (Commitment)
A Grove Avenue resident reported his adult son just cut the power to his residence. Patrol arrived and found the 29-year-old male to be in mental distress. The circuit breaker to the residence was turned off as the male believed WiFi was interfering with him. The male was committed to a local facility for an evaluation.

5/2/2023 9:30 AM (Theft)
A resident from Chestnut Avenue reported his catalytic convertor was stolen from his Honda FIT. Detectives were assigned to canvass local security cameras.

5/2/2023 2:53 PM (Suspicious Person)
A manager from a West Passaic Street supermarket reported a male applicant for a job returned to his office to demand employment. The 45-year-old male from New York was interviewed for a position in December. He returned in May and now demanded a job. The suspect left prior to police arrival. The matter was documented and the actor will be cited for trespassing should he return again.

5/2/2023 7:18 PM (Suspicious Person)
A patrol officer located a 64-year-old male from Maywood, urinating on a shrub near Cedar Drive. The highly intoxicated male was transported to a local hospital and issued a local ordinance summons.

5/3/2023 2:46 PM (Arrest - Adult)
Detectives observed a male party run out of a local bank. They followed the male to another bank and observed pieces of paper being thrown from the vehicle. A motor vehicle stop was conducted and the occupants were identified. The stop ultimately led to the arrest of 3 individuals whom were attempting to pass fake and stolen checks at several banks.

5/4/2023 3:36 PM, (Auto Theft)
A Route 17 auto dealership reported a vehicle valued at $145,000 was obtained via fraudulent means. The actors used fraudulent identifications to finance almost $125,000 worth of the vehicle. The vehicle was recovered two days later in Manhattan. Detectives are working leads to identify the suspects.

5/5/2023 12:56 PM (Arrest - Adult)
An off-duty officer working a traffic detail located a male shoplifter from a local pharmacy. The suspect, a 23-year-old from Union, stole $45 worth of toiletries. A search incident to arrest revealed prescription narcotics possessed illegally. The male was arrested and released on a summons.

5/6/2023 12:43 AM (DWI Arrest)
A patrol officer located a vehicle pinned against a telephone pole. An on-scene investigation led to the arrest of the driver, a 25-year-old female from Newark, for suspicion of drunk driving. No injuries were reported. Utility companies were summoned to correct damage to the pole.

5/6/2023 9:29 PM (Commitment)
A driver of a ride sharing service reported a highly intoxicated passenger. The passenger, a resident of Howard Avenue, fell several times while trying to enter her residence. Due to her intoxicated state, an ambulance was requested for a transport to a local hospital.

5/7/2023 8:07 PM (Arrest -Adult)
Several reports of a male and a female arguing in the parking lot of a Route 17 steakhouse. Patrol located the couple from Connecticut and found bite marks on the male. The 33-year-old female was arrested under domestic violence violations.

In addition, (23) suspicious persons/vehicles were vetted and (102) motor vehicle stops were conducted in a 14-day span.


A charge is not a conviction. All persons are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Charges can be amended or dismissed.
