5/23/2023 5:08 PM, (Juvenile Complaint)
A caller reported juveniles on the roof of Houghton Hall. Patrol located the group, recorded information and removed them from the hazard.

5/24/2023 8:56 PM, (Robbery)
Loss prevention from a West Passaic Street supermarket reported (2) parties attempted to shoplift $377 worth of goods (tequila). Loss prevention confronted the thieves and an assault took place. The actors left the scene prior to patrol arrival; however, surveillance footage is being utilized to identify the suspects, whom fled in a black Nissan Rogue.

5/25/2023 1:18 PM, (Harassment)
An Essex Street medical facility reported a patient repeatedly phoning the office. The patient was upset that he was not prescribed a narcotic pain killer, so he began to harass employees. The facility declined to sign complaints and the calls have waned.

5/25/2023 6:23 PM, (Noise Complaint)
A West Passaic Street apartment tenant reported her upstairs neighbors' TV was too loud. She asked him to lower the volume and he politely responded by raising the volume. Patrol requested the volume be controlled and he complied.

5/26/2023 8:17 PM, (Suspicious Persons)
A patrolman located two parties behind a dumpster at 218 Route 17 North. The two Hackensack residents were enjoying a case of Modelo. They were issued summonses for public alcohol consumption and dispersed from the area.

5/27/2023 11:03 PM, (Property Complaint)
A resident of Forest Place reported that construction work was being completed on her neighbors' front steps without a permit. Patrol located the contractor and homeowner. The owner stated he spoke with building officials and was advised that a permit was not required for a repair. The home repairs were able to continue without disruption from neighbor complaints.

5/29/2023 9:50 PM, (Breach of Peace)
A dispute in the lobby of a West Passaic Street hotel was reported. Patrol located a female complainant who reported her boyfriend fled the scene because he is wanted for robbery. Patrol documented the verbal dispute and were unable to located the wanted party. Extra checks were conducted during the shift.

6/1/2023 2:18 AM, (Arrest- Adult)
A patrol officer reported a pedestrian stop on West Passaic Street. One of the pedestrians, a 37-year-old female from Westwood, was in possession of stolen Shop Rite goods. The same female was also wanted out of the Bergen County Sheriff's Department. The party was arrested, charged with receiving stolen property, and turned over to Sheriff's Officers.

6/1/2023 11:41 AM, (Arrest - Adult)
A motor vehicle stop on Rochelle Avenue led to the discovery of a traffic warrant out of North Brunswick. The driver, a 29-year-old male from New Brunswick, was taken into custody, issued 6 summonses, and posted bail of $1000.

6/2/2023 2:05 AM, (Narcotics - Arrest)
A plain clothes detective observed a hand to hand narcotics transaction take place on High Street. Officers were able to locate and arrest both the dealer and purchaser. The distributer, a 25-year-old male from Paterson, and the buyer, a 41- year-old resident, were charged and released. Suspected heroin and narcotic proceeds were recovered.

6/5/2023 12:32 PM, (Arrest - Adult)
A patrol officer conducted a motor vehicle stop for a cell phone violation. The driver, a 24-year-old male from Orange, was found to have an open NCIC warrant for a domestic violence offense. He was safely taken into custody and turned over to Orange Police Department.

6/5/2023 10:23 PM (Theft)
A SPEN radio broadcast reported a dispute at an Essex Street convenience store. Responding patrol learned that a store manager confronted two shoplifters. The actors fled in a vehicle with temporary Georgia plates. One fleeing actor mistakenly left behind his iPhone. Detectives are attempting to identify the actor through his lost phone.

6/6/2023 10:24 AM (Arrest - Adult)
A motor vehicle stop was conducted on Route 17 for following too closely. The driver, a 31-year-old male from NYC, provided a fake name and was found in possession of prescription narcotics. The male was arrested and searched incident to his arrest. The search yielded a debit card in another persons' name. The suspect was questioned, and stated, "it belongs to a crackhead who owes me money." The male was charged with narcotic possession, credit card theft, and providing false information.

In addition, (21) suspicious persons/vehicles were vetted and (126) motor vehicle stops were conducted in a 14-day span.


A charge is not a conviction. All persons are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Charges can be amended or dismissed.
