10/3/2023 11:41 AM, (Fraud)
A resident of South Drive reported an employment scam. The resident believed he was hired by a company named McIntire Solutions. He received a check in excess of $2,000 to pay for "office equipment". When instructed to "Zelle" the currency to a third-party vendor, the victim realized he was compromised. The victims bank and the detective bureau, initiated investigations.

10/3/2023 4:20 PM, (Theft)
A manager from a West Passaic Street supermarket reported a large shoplifting in the past. Two suspects stole approximately $4,000 worth of cold and flu medication. Surveillance cameras connected the actors to additional thefts in Staten Island. Detectives identified the suspects, complaints are pending.

10/3/2023 6:33 PM, (Welfare Check)
A resident reported screams coming from a neighbor's home on Grove Avenue. Responding patrol officers spoke to the resident and found the screams to stem from a mouse found in a box. All units returned to service. Current condition of the rodent is undocumented.

10/6/2023 1:40 PM, (Theft)
A resident reported 3 juveniles approached his Ghost Busters Halloween decorations and stole pieces of it. The Midland School SRO identified the juvenile actors, retrieved the property, and returned it to the owner.

10/7/2023 3:52 AM, (DWI - Arrest)
A caller reported an SUV stopped in the middle of Railroad Avenue was moving for a green light. Patrol located the vehicle and initiated a motor vehicle stop after the vehicle began to turn on Rochelle Avenue. After detecting the odor of alcoholic beverages, field sobriety tests were conducted. The driver, a 36-year-old male resident, was arrested for suspicion of drunk driving. The arrestee was issued several summonses, including refusal to submit breath samples, and released to a family member.

10/7/2023 8:28 PM, (Weapons Offense – Adult Arrest)
A caller reported being threatened with a firearm in the area of Rochelle Avenue and West Passaic Street. The actors were previously known to the victim. Responding patrol units located the actors on Marinus Street. An on-scene investigation revealed (3) knives, no firearms were utilized. The suspects, one of which a former employee of the victim, demanded back pay from his former boss. Two males aged 19 and 21, both of Hackensack, were arrested and charged with Terroristic Threats and Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose. Both were released on a summons.

10/7/2023 8:59 PM, (Domestic Violence - Arrest)
A juvenile caller reported a physical fight between a male and female on Lexington Avenue. Responding units located a female with signs of injuries. A 36-year-old male resident was arrested and charged with simple assault. The male was committed to the Bergen County Jail.

10/8/2023 12:44 PM, (Shoplifting)
Loss Prevention personnel from a West Passaic Street supermarket reported a known shoplifter just entered the store. Responding patrol observed surveillance cameras as the suspect began to fill reusable shopping bags with red meat. Police met the 41-year-old male from Paterson, as he attempted to exit without paying. The suspect signed paperwork which permanently barred him from the store and all potential proceeds were recovered.

10/9/2023 3:19 PM, (Breach of Peace)
A caller reported a loud argument on Colling Avenue. Patrol located a male and female party who were using the same laundry room in an apartment building. An argument over smoking occurred, one was disarmed while holding her broomstick. Patrol officers settled the dispute and both parties returned to their units.

10/10/2023 1:18 PM, (Arrest - Adult)
A motor vehicle stop was conducted on Essex Street for a Texas registered vehicle with heavy tinted windows. A positive indication from a K-9 led to a search and the discovery of several stolen and forged checks. The driver, a 25- year-old male from Hackensack was arrested and charged with bad checks, forgery, and receiving stolen property.

10/10/2023 7:40 PM, (Shoplifting)
A supermarket loss prevention employee reported a shoplifter in custody. The 68-year-old thief from Paterson stole approximately $200 worth of alcohol from the liquor store. He was run for warrants and signed paperwork permanently barring him from the store.

10/11/2023 2:40 PM (Arrest - Adult)
A resident of Parkway reported finding two unknown males inside his vehicle. The suspects fled on foot upon being interrupted. Responding patrol located a suspect matching the description and placed him under arrest. The arrestee, an 18-year-old male from Garfield was charged with burglary and attempted theft.

10/12/2023 6:54 AM (Auto Theft)
A resident of Lincoln Drive reported her Toyota Rav4 was stolen from the driveway. The keys were left inside the vehicle. The following day the vehicle was recovered in Bogota, detectives were assigned. Leaving keys in vehicles assists criminals.

10/12/2023 3:42 PM (Court Order Violation)
The victim of a domestic violence incident reported being contacted multiple times via telephone by a person in which a restraining order was held against. The suspect phoned from the Bergen County Jail. Contempt of Court charges were completed and forwarded to the already incarcerated individual.

10/14/2023 10:41 AM (Arrest - Adult)
A driver responded to headquarters to obtain an impound release. The vehicle was originally impounded for possessing a fraudulent insurance card. The driver now appeared with a second fraudulent Georgia insurance card. The driver was promptly arrested for displaying a fraudulent government document. The 26- year-old male from the Bronx, NY, was charged and released. The vehicle remained in impound, awaiting a real insurance card.

10/14/2023 4:09 PM (Recovered Stolen Article)
A patrol officer was flagged down in the parking lot of an area hotel. The complainant reported their Air pods were stolen and are currently tracking in the hotel. Officers entered the hotel, located the items and returned them to the owner. Suspect information was turned over to the originating agency.

10/16/2023 2:47 PM (Theft)
A resident of Central Avenue reported a future ex-spouse stole items while moving out. Patrol documented the event and advised the complainant to speak to their attorney.

10/17/2023 3:15 PM (Fraud)
A resident of East Forest Place reported receiving a text message from her boss. The text requested the purchase of Apple Gift Cards to be given to co-workers for monthly achievements. The cards were purchased totaling $600 and photos of each were sent. The victim realized that the phone number was spoofed and the cards were stolen. Detectives were advised.

10/17/2023 6:37 PM (Criminal Mischief)
Management from a West Passaic Street hotel reported extensive damage to a room. A 57-year-old male hotel resident was recently committed to an area hospital. The cleaning staff entered the room to find stains on the walls, stains on the mattress, and a large amount of garbage throughout the room. Officers took photos of the scene and documented all findings.

In addition, (18) suspicious persons/vehicles were vetted and (63) motor vehicle stops were conducted in a 14-day span.


A charge is not a conviction. All persons are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Charges can be amended or dismissed.
