2/2/2024 12:57 AM, (Unwanted Person)
A West Passaic Street supermarket manager requested assistance removing an employee from the store. The employee was reported to be "standing around and not working". The manager addressed the employee and the 48-year-old male employee from Hackensack, became irate. Responding officers encouraged the employee to leave and compliance was met.

2/2/2024 7:55 AM, (Suspicious Vehicle)
A caller reported a suspicious vehicle parked in the area of Harvey Avenue. Patrol Officers located the vehicle and found the occupant to be a private investigator working a case in the area.

2/3/2024 11:57 AM (Breach of Peace)
A patron of a West Passaic Street supermarket called to report a breach of peace near customer service. The actor left prior to police arrival, however, the dispute revolved around politics and the complainant stated the rude male actor "should be spoken to." Patrol was unable to locate the political antagonist.

2/4/2024 1:33 AM, (DWI Arrest - Adult)
A patrol officer observed a vehicle failing to maintain a lane of Route 17 North. A motor vehicle stop ensued and the driver was suspected of being under the influence. The driver, a 27-year-old male from Spring Valley, NY, was arrested and charged with DWI.

2/4/2024 8:38 AM, (Unwanted Party)
A West Passaic Street hotel reported an unwanted guest was sleeping on a couch in the lobby. Patrol located a 36-year-old homeless male, and requested he either book a room or leave the premise. The male complied and boarded a NJ Transit bus.

2/6/2024 4:33 AM, (Suspicious Vehicle)
A patrol officer located a van parked in a Rochelle Avenue church parking lot. The van had black garbage bags covering every window. A family of 3 was located inside of the vehicle. All appeared in good health and reported to be tired from travelling. The vehicle was moved at the officers' request.

2/7/2024 3:23 PM, (Theft)
A resident of North Drive reported her catalytic convertor was stolen the previous evening. Patrol confirmed the part was cut from the victims' vehicle. A canvass was conducted of the area and neighboring surveillance cameras were reviewed. Detectives were assigned to the case. The victims' vehicle was a Volkswagen Beetle.

2/10/2024 1:59 AM, (Arrest - Adult)
A patrol officer observed an older model Honda pull into the parking lots of several closed businesses. A motor vehicle stop ensued and vehicle was found to contain several power tools. The driver, a 23-year-old male from Paterson, was additionally found to possess illegal prescription drugs and a weapon (A.S.P.) for an unlawful purpose. The male was arrested, charged, and released on a summons.

2/12/2024 3:27 PM, (Unlawful Dumping)
A DPW employee reported a grey F-150 dumped garbage debris on the Lotz Lane access road. A responding officer located an Amazon package within the debris. The package belonged to a resident of Colling Avenue. Patrol located the resident and requested he pick up the illegally dumped garbage. Presented with the Amazon package, the resident complied.

2/13/2024 9:30 AM, (Harassment)
Two residents of a Chestnut Avenue multi-family home reported excessive noise. The upstairs and downstairs tenants both complained to police that the walls shake due to excessive activities. The residents were advised to speak with their landlord about a compromise.

In addition, (28) suspicious persons/vehicles were vetted and (170) motor vehicle stops were conducted in a 14-day span.


A charge is not a conviction. All persons are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Charges can be amended or dismissed.
