6/1/2024 2:10 PM, (Breach of Peace)
A 911 caller reported a customer dispute at a Passaic Street oil change facility.
The customer forgot his wallet and requested to return home to retrieve it. The
business required his cell phone be left behind as collateral. The customer refused
to part with his pocket computer. Patrol Officers negotiated a compromise.
6/1/2024 8:43 PM, (Animal Complaint)
A manager from a West Passaic Street supermarket reported a customer's dog
"went to the bathroom" in an aisle and the customer refused to clean it up. It was
unknown whether the bathroom break was #1 or #2. Police arrived and found that
the customer left prior to arrival, the aisle was cleaned.
6/1/2024 10:27 PM (Noise Complaint)
Several callers reported a loud party on Oldis Street. Several contacts were made
with the residents and eventually the gathering was broken up due to noise
ordinance violations.
6/2/2024 1:53 AM, (Juvenile Complaint - Missing Person)
A caller reported a juvenile male in front of a Route 17 coffee shop. Contact was
made with the 17-year-old juvenile, who reported he just left a loud party on
Oldis Street and was lost. An NCIC check revealed he was a missing person who
left the Bergen Place Youth Center. Officers spoke with his mother, confirmed
the missing status, and returned him to the center.
6/2/2024 3:19 AM, (DWI - Arrest)
A caller reported a female yelling on the phone on Oak Street. Patrol responded
and the vehicle haphazardly drove into a nearby parking lot. As officers
approached, the female continued to scream at a male counterpart on the phone.
Officers suspected intoxication, administered field sobriety tests, and arrested a
39-year-old female from Bloomfield. The driver was issued several summonses
including DWI and refusal to submit breath samples.
6/2/2024 4:51 PM, (DWI-Arrest)
A rear end motor vehicle collision occurred on Rochelle Avenue. As officers
investigated, one of the drivers left the scene and was eventually stopped on
Railroad Avenue. The driver, a 73-year-old male from Clifton was arrested on
suspicion of drunk driving. He was released to a family member.
6/3/2024 8:39 AM, (Narcotics - Adult Arrest)
A motor vehicle stop revealed the driver, a 39 year old male from Lodi, was
wanted out of Paterson. A subsequent vehicle search yielded a stolen NJ driver's
license and a scale with a white powdery substance on it. The driver was charged
and received a new court date from Paterson.
6/5/2024 4:31 PM, (Arrest - Adult)
A caller reported a male party walking in the area of Central Avenue. The male
was reported to be stumbling and in the company of a small child. Patrol located
a 35-year-old male from Jersey City, and a 6-year-old female. Witnesses reported
the intoxicated male stumbled and fell on top of the young girl, who displayed
minor injuries. The male was arrested and charged with endangering the welfare
of a juvenile and committed to an area hospital. The young girls' mother took
custody of her.
6/7/2024 8:35 AM, (Arrest - Adult)
A Patrol Officer conducted a motor vehicle stop on Essex Street. The driver, a
42-year-old male from Paterson, displayed a fraudulent insurance card and
possessed (2) open warrants from Paterson Police. A search incident to arrest
revealed a stolen check in the suspects pocket and (97) white pills identified as a
schedule 3 narcotic. The driver was arrested and charged with receiving stolen
property, exhibiting a false insurance card, and exhibiting a false government
document. The arrestee was provided a new court date in Passaic County, and
released.
6/8/2024 12:37 AM, (DWI - Arrest)
A caller reported a vehicle struck the center divider on Route 17. Patrol located
the vehicle and driver in a Route 17 gas station. The vehicle displayed obvious
damage and the driver failed sobriety tests. The driver, a 44-year-old male from
Maywood, was arrested and charge with DWI and refusal to submit breath
samples.
6/8/2024 11:39 PM, (Breach of Peace)
A motorist reported an altercation with a Coach USA bus driver. The dispute
over traffic violations led to a roadside argument in which the bus driver was
accused of slamming the motorists' door, punching, and then spitting on him. No
injuries were observed and both parties were advised of the civilian complaint
process.
6/9/2024 4:34 PM, (Narcotics Arrest)
A motor vehicle stop was conducted on West Passaic Street. A juvenile, 2 years
of age, was viewed sitting on the lap of an adult, no restraints were utilized. The
driver, a 38-year-old male from Union, was found to illegally possess prescription
legend drugs. The driver was arrested for narcotic possession and issued several
motor vehicle summonses, including failure to secure a child under 2 years of age.
6/10/2024 2:49 PM, (Auto Theft)
A Route 17 auto dealership reported one of their vehicles was stolen in the past.
A preowned 2021 Acura RDX was found to be missing from the lot. Surveillance
footage revealed the vehicle was stolen on 5/28/2024. The vehicle was entered
stolen and detectives were assigned.
6/10/2024 10:18 AM, (Theft)
A resident of a Howard Avenue reported a theft at the hands of a prior household
member. The residents reported cash and jewelry stolen from the home and
provided a "Ring" video of the actor entering a purse inside the home. Officers
identified the 22-year-old male from Carlstadt, and issued a complaint summons
for 3rd degree theft. A court date was set.
6/11/2024 9:34 AM, (Unwanted Person)
An Essex Street dental office reported a plumber was harassing staff. Responding
units spoke with a "Drain Doctor" who reported the dentist failed to settle a bill
for a bathroom repair. Each side was explained the civil dispute process and left
the area.
6/12/2024 1:47 PM, (Arrest - Adult)
A Patrol Officer observed a vehicle travelling on West Passaic Street with a fake
New Jersey license plate. A closer inspection revealed the font was printed on a
sticker affixed to a metal plate. The driver, a 33-year-old male from Rochelle
Park, presented a fraudulent registration card. He was arrested and charged with
exhibiting false government documents, and issued several motor vehicle
summonses.
6/13/2024 11:02 AM, (Commercial Burglary)
Detectives were summoned to a Route 17 smoke shop for a shattered front door.
Employees identified almost $4,000 in proceeds, including a cash register, cash,
and merchandise. Detectives imitated a multi-jurisdictional investigation and
identified an actor. The burglar was identified as a 42-year-old male from
Passaic. A warrant for burglary and theft was issued for his arrest.
6/14/2024 1:20 PM, (Commitment)
A West Passaic Street hotel reported a party refusing to check out. Patrol located
a highly intoxicated male and summoned an ambulance for his safety. The 45-
year-old West Milford resident was committed to a local facility.
In addition, (15) suspicious persons/vehicles were vetted and (88) motor vehicle
stops were conducted in a 16-day span.
A charge is not a conviction. All persons are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Charges can be amended or dismissed.
