Residents of a Central Avenue home called police three separate times to report
verbal arguments. In the course of their arguments both parties locked themselves
out of the home. Officers assisted with entry and negotiated separate sleeping
arrangements for the complainants.
10/1/2024 10:49 AM, (Arrest - Adult)
Northvale Police reported a 52-year-old female resident of Old Tappan was in
their custody. The female had an open criminal mischief warrant from Rochelle
Park. Officers responded to Northvale, took custody of the female, processed her,
and escorted her to the municipal court to post bail.
10/2/2024 6:37 PM (Sudden Death)
A friend of a Harvey Avenue resident reported she could not reach her friend.
Responding units discovered a 69 year old female deceased. No suspicious
activity was detected and the Bergen County Medical Examiner assumed control
of the scene.
10/3/2024 12:13 PM, (Fraud)
A resident of West Passaic Street reported being befriended by an unknown
female on WhatsApp. After several weeks of conversation, the "female" stated
that she could help him with investments. The victim invested $20,000 into an
imposter website. Detectives were assigned.
10/4/2024 12:01 PM, (Commitment)
A 911 caller reported an intoxicated female threatened family members with a
knife. Responding patrol located an intoxicated 47-year-old female resident of
Parkway, no knife was located. The female was dangerously under the influence
and subsequently transported to a nearby hospital.
10/4/2024 4:46 PM, (Unwanted Person)
The manager of a Rochelle Avenue pharmacy reported a female causing a
disturbance. The 62-year-old Saddle Brook resident was upset because she lost
her phone and store employees refused to help her locate it. The female was
escorted from the property.
10/5/2024 8:30 PM, (Commitment)
A resident of Schlosser Drive reported a house guest fell and can not get up.
Patrol located a highly intoxicated 55-year-old Oak Street resident, and found her
to be dangerously intoxicated. An ambulance was summoned and committed the
party under the ATRA law.
10/7/2024 3:28 PM, (Narcotics Arrest - Adult)
A motor vehicle stop was conducted near Rochelle Avenue for an expired
inspection sticker. Two occupants of the vehicle a 51-year-old from Manchester
and a 56-year-old from East Orange were found to possess cocaine and heroin.
Each was arrested, charged, and released.
10/7/2024 8:34 PM, (Breach of Peace)
A Passaic Street restaurant reported an unruly customer. The customers were
upset because the restaurant included gratuity on the bill. Upon arrival, 4 parties
were in the parking lot yelling at each other. The customers were intoxicated and
complaining about losing a cell phone, one party was stuck in the mud of a nearby
drainage pit. Police restored order and all parties safely left the area.
10/8/2024 9:29 PM, (Detective Investigation)
Detectives closed a burglary and attempted car theft case in conjunction with
Maywood Police. The crimes occurred in May of 2024. A male suspect was
charged and warrants were sent to the Bergen County Jail where the suspect
currently resides.
10/8/2024 5:29 PM, (Theft)
A family member of a resident at 106 Terrace Avenue reported online thefts from
her mother. The suspect, another family member, transferred funds from her
elderly mothers' bank account. Detectives were assigned and consulted with a
county legal advisor. The complainants were advised to seek civil action since
the account was shared.
10/10/2024 12:11 PM, (Breach of Peace - Landlord / Tenant Dispute)
A Madison Avenue landlord reported his tenant repeatedly complains about the
roof of the home. On this date a roofer was sent to fix the roof and the tenant
refused service. This contradictory action was settled by police and an agreement
was made to schedule a service time.
10/10/2024 8:08 PM, (Sudden Death)
A family member called in a welfare check of an aunt in distress. Police were
unable to gain access to the home; however, an officer eventually scaled a roof
and entered an upstairs window. A 69-year-old female resident was discovered
deceased, no suspicious activity was uncovered.
10/11/2024 3:51 PM, (Commitment)
A family member requested a welfare check of a female resident of Parkway.
Responding units could not gain entry to a locked bedroom. Breaching tools were
utilized, and a 47-year-old female was located unconscious due to a high level of
intoxication. The patient was transported to a local hospital.
10/13/2024 10:35 AM, (Unlawful Dumping)
A Route 17 grocery store reported someone left large couches next to their
dumpster. The unlawful dumper forgot to remove mail from in between the
couch cushions. Police contacted a Maywood resident and requested the couches
be removed in lieu of criminal charges. The couches were removed.
10/13/2024 3:37 PM, (Welfare Check)
A caller requested a welfare check of a female staying at a West Passaic Street
hotel. The female was reported to be broadcasting an emotional breakdown on
TikTok live. Contact was made with the female who appeared of sound mind.
10/13/2024 8:49 PM, (DWI- Arrest)
A caller reported a hit and run motor vehicle accident on Passaic Street. The
fleeing vehicle was located, with heavy damage, parked on North Drive. The
driver, a 53-year-old female from Paramus, was arrested on suspicious of DUI. A
breath test recorded a reading over 3 times the legal limit. Several summonses
issued and the arrestee was turned over to a family member.
10/14/2024 11:12 PM, (Arrest - Adult)
The NJSP reported a male party in custody with an active warrant out of Rochelle
Park. The 40-year-old male resident of Lodi was wanted for a $4000 failure to
appear warrant. The arrestee was taken into custody and lodged in the Bergen
County Jail.
10/15/2024 3:56 PM, (Harassment)
A financial advisor responded to headquarters to report harassment from a past
client. The victim reported receiving text messages, emails, and SPAM mail from
an IP address that matched a former client. The complainant was referred to the
Municipal Court.
In addition, (20) suspicious persons/vehicles were vetted and (136) motor vehicle
stops were conducted in a 16-day span.
A charge is not a conviction. All persons are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Charges can be amended or dismissed.
