12/2/2024 11:44 AM, (Suspicious Person)
A DPW worker reported a male party attempting to cross Route 17. A responding Patrol Sergeant safely escorted the male away from the barrier. A 72-year-old male attempted to cross the highway in order to purchase fishing equipment.

12/2/2024 12:56 PM, (Town Ordinance Violation)
A caller from Madison Avenue reported (2) females rummaging through recycling bins. Patrol located the females, hailing from Garfield, and issued Township Ordinance violation summonses.

12/2/2024 3:19 PM (Theft)
A 70-year-old female resident of Cedar Drive reported a theft and fraud. Four checks were sent via USPS, all four never made it to their destination. A check of bank records revealed the checks were altered and issued to unknown suspect names. A loss of just under $7,000 was reported. Detectives issued subpoenas and are actively working the case.

12/3/2024 3:52 AM, (DWI - Arrest)
A patrol Sergeant observed a white Lexus parked in a Route 17 gas station. The driver was asleep in the rear seat with the vehicle running. The occupant, a 35- year-old male from Lyndhurst was awoken and asked where he was heading. He stated he came from a friend's house in Lyndhurst, and was heading back home to Lyndhurst. The male was removed from the vehicle, failed field sobriety tests, arrested, and refused to provide breath samples. He was issued several summonses and released to a family member.

12/3/2024 7:17 AM, (Arson Investigation)
A caller reported a vehicle fire in the parking lot of a Rochelle Avenue condominium complex. RPFD quickly extinguished the fire. Detectives reviewed surveillance footage and found video of two men purposely igniting the fire. Detectives are working with BCPO and NYPD officials to identify a motive and suspects.

12/5/2024 3:37 PM, (Domestic Violence)
A resident of Central Avenue walked into headquarters to report a physical assault. The victim, a 49-year-old female, stated that a verbal argument with her husband led to an open-handed slap to the face. Police did not observe any signs of physical injury and the victim did not request a restraining order. A crisis response team volunteer was summoned.

12/6/2024 5:04 PM, (Breach of Peace)
A caller from A Harvey Ave. reported her neighbor was moving his trash cans and screaming offensive words at her. Responding patrol units learned of an ongoing garbage can placement dispute. The residents were advised to place cans on their side of the property line.

12/6/2024 5:08 PM, (Community Outreach)
Officers held a safety briefing, established a command post, and enacted road closures for the 2024 Holiday Tree Lighting Event.

12/7/2024 10:17 AM, (Auto Theft Recovery)
A caller from a Route 17 storage facility reported an abandoned box truck. The vehicle was located and found to be reported stolen out of Waterbury, CT. Patrol contacted the owner and recovered the property.

12/7/2024 4:31 PM, (Commitment - Involuntary)
A caller from a Rochelle Avenue apartment reported his daughter was highly intoxicated and causing a disturbance. The patient, a 40-year-old female from Bogota, was restrained and eventually transported to a local hospital.

12/8/2024 9:32 AM, (Arrest - Adult)
A motor vehicle stop of a BMW M8 was conducted on Legion Place. The driver, a 32-year-old male from Bergenfield, was found to have an open $1,500 warrant from Springfield. Officers attempted to place the driver under arrest and he resisted. Charges for resisting arrest were issued and the arrestee was turned over to Springfield Police.

12/8/2024 1:13 PM, (Shoplifting)
Loss prevention from a Passaic Street supermarket reported a shoplifter in custody. A 20-year-old female from the Bronx, NY, was in possession of a stolen cake valued at $16. Patrol identified the actor and escorted her from the property. The cake was recovered.

12/9/2024 3:59 AM, (Domestic Violence - Arrest)
Paramus Police reported a dispute between mother and daughter on Central Avenue. Arriving officers located the involved parties and found that a 32-year-old female threw an object at her sleeping mothers' head. She then dragged her out of bed by the hair. The female was arrested, charged with assault, and committed to a local medical facility.

12/9/2024 9:43 AM, (Arrest - Adult)
A motor vehicle stop was conducted on Crescent Street. The 24-year-old female driver from Paterson, was found to possess an open warrant from Prospect Park. The vehicle was impounded and the driver was turned over to Prospect Park detectives.

12/10/2024 8:31 AM, (Juvenile Complaint)
A patrol officer located a Saddle Brook High School student on Lotz Lane. The student refused to return to school. Officers contacted the high school Resource Officer and arranged to transport the male student back to campus

12/11/2024 6:37 AM, (Sex Offense - Arrest)
Patrol received a report of a dispute at a Passaic Street hotel. Officers learned that two parties met online, and a male suspect was accused of groping a female. An on-scene investigation led to the arrest of a 36-year-old Garfield resident. The arrestee was charged with criminal sexual contact and released pending a court date.

12/11/2024 11:33 PM, (Auto Theft)
A resident of Jamaica, NY reported his Chevy Traverse stolen from an Essex Street convenience store. The vehicle was left unlocked and running. Responding officers pinging the vehicle in Paterson, where it was recovered unoccupied.

12/12/2024 1:46 AM, (Unwanted Person)
A NJ Transit Bus driver reported a male party refusing to depart the bus. Patrol located a 34-year-old resident of Clifton, asleep on the bus. He was awoken, and escorted to a safe location where he awaited a ride share service.

12/12/2024 6:29 PM, (Theft)
A resident of West Oldis Street reported a package stolen from his front steps. The resident reviewed his doorbell camera and observed a 4-door sedan park near his home. The driver exited, approached his door and stole a children's toy that was delivered earlier in the day. Surveillance images were turned over to detectives.

12/13/2024 10:02 AM, (Arrest - Adult)
A patrol officer conducted a motor vehicle stop on Harvey Avenue. Prior to the stop, the driver entered a private driveway where he did not reside. The driver, a 46-year-old male from Mahwah, could not produce insurance and displayed a suspended driver's license. After numerous requests to exit the vehicle, the driver was physically removed, and he proceeded to resist arrest. The arrestee was charged with numerous driving offenses as well as resisting arrest and obstruction.

In addition, (19) suspicious persons/vehicles were vetted and (123) motor vehicle stops were conducted in a 14-day span.


A charge is not a conviction. All persons are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Charges can be amended or dismissed.
