The arrest was the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Matthew Finck and the Englewood Police Department under the direction of Chief Thomas Greeley.
On Thursday, August 1, 2024, the Englewood Police Department responded to a shooting on Grand Avenue in Englewood, NJ. Upon arrival, responding officers located a 25-year-old male victim with a gunshot wound to his back, and determined that the suspects fled the scene. The victim was immediately transported to Hackensack University Medical Center in serious condition and survived. The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit was notified, responded, and initiated a joint investigation with the Englewood Police Department.
During the investigation, detectives learned that the victim was approached by a group of unknown individuals, some of whom were disguised in masks and brandishing firearms, in a parking garage on Grand Avenue. The victim attempted to run to safety, but one of the suspects opened fire with an AK-47 assault rifle, striking the victim in the back. The assailants robbed the victim of his belongings and fled. Ultimately, detectives from the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and Englewood Police Department identified DENZIL BAILEY, IQUWANN QUICK, DWIGHT STEPHENSON, and OSARUMWENSE UZAMERE as the suspects who participated in the shooting and robbery of the victim.
