Teenager Arrested in Connection With Jersey City Murder

Members of the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit have charged a juvenile in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred in Jersey City on Friday, January 3, 2025.

The 17-year-old male is charged as a juvenile with Murder in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:11-3a(1)/(2), Unlawful Possession of a Weapon in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:39-5b(1), and Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:39-4a(1). He was arrested on Monday, January 6, 2025, at a residence on Garfield Avenue in Jersey City. Juvenile matters are confidential and no additional information can be released at this time.

Shortly before 8:30 p.m., on Friday, January 3, 2025, the Jersey City Police Department was notified of a shooting in the area of Lembeck Avenue and Old Bergen Road. A male victim – later identified as Rahmiere Morris, 20, of Jersey City – was located with an apparent gunshot wound to the torso. He was transported to Jersey City Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at approximately 9:35 p.m.

Prosecutor Suarez credited the Homicide Unit and the Jersey City Police Department with the investigation and arrest. The above charges are merely accusations and the juvenile is presumed innocent until proven guilty. R.P.C.3.6(b)(6)
