Guttenberg Police Blotter: December 30th, 2024 to January 5th, 2025

1. On December 30th, 2024, members of the Guttenberg Police Department’s Patrol Division observed an assault take place near the intersection of Bergenline Avenue and 70th Street. During their on-scene investigation, officers arrested 22-year-old Hector A. Cucul-Alonzo of West New York, NJ, for simple assault [2C:12-1A(1)]. Mr. Cucul-Alonzo was then transported to the Guttenberg Police Department for his arrest processing. Upon the completion of his arrest processing, Mr. Cucul-Alonzo was issued his complaint summons and then released from police custody.

2. On December 31st, 2024, members of the West New York Police Department transported a male with an active warrant, issued by the Guttenberg Municipal Court, to our police headquarters. Upon their arrival, officers arrested 44- year-old Manuel A. Alonsofotopoulos of West New York, NJ. Mr. Alonsofotopoulos was then processed and lodged in the Hudson County Correctional Center.

3. On January 1st, 2025, members of the Guttenberg Police Department’s Patrol Division responded to a report of a motor vehicle accident hit and run. Officers canvassed the surrounding area and quickly located the vehicle that fled the scene. During their on-scene investigation, officers arrested 34-year-old Mario Saban-Chavez of West New York, NJ, for driving while intoxicated [39:4-50]. Mr. Saban-Chavez was then transported to the Guttenberg Police Department for his arrest processing. Upon the completion of his arrest processing, Mr. Saban-Chavez was issued numerous summonses for traffic violations and then released into the care of staff from the Palisades Medical Center.

4. On January 1st, 2025, members of the Guttenberg Police Department’s Patrol Division responded to the area of 69th Street and Hudson Avenue after receiving a report of an assault. During their on-scene investigation, officers arrested 19-year-old Elizabeth Szapacs of Jersey City, NJ, and 19-year-old Kimberly Szapacs of Jersey City, NJ, for obstructing the administration of law [2C:29-1A]. Upon the completion of their arrest processing, both defendants were issued their complaint summonses and released from police custody.

5. On January 1st, 2025, during a motor vehicle stop, members of the Guttenberg Police Department’s Patrol Division arrested 38-year-old Adam A. Elshazly of North Bergen, NJ, after discovering that he had an active warrant, issued by the North Bergen Municipal Court. Mr. Elshazly was then transported to the Guttenberg Police Department for his arrest processing. Upon the completion of his arrest processing, Mr. Elshazly was released on his own recognizance, pending his next court appearance with the North Bergen Municipal Court.

6. On January 1st, 2025, members of the Guttenberg Police Department’s Patrol Division responded to our police headquarters after a male walked inside and brandished a knife. The male was located outside of our police headquarters, at which time officers arrested 30-year-old Ulices R. Gamero-Borja of West New York, NJ, for the possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose [2C:39-4D] and disorderly conduct [2C:33-2A(1)]. Upon the completion of his arrest processing, Mr. Gamero-Borja was issued his complaint warrant and then lodged in the Hudson County Correctional Center.

7. On January 2nd, 2025, our agency was informed by the Camden County Police Department that they had a male in their custody with an active warrant, issued by the Guttenberg Municipal Court. Members of the Guttenberg Police Department then responded to Camden County Police headquarters, where they arrested 46-year-old Carlos J. Carrion of Scranton, PA. Mr. Carrion was then transported to the Guttenberg Police Department for his arrest processing. Upon the completion of his arrest processing, Mr. Carrion was released on his own recognizance, pending his next court appearance with the Guttenberg Municipal Court.

8. On January 3rd, 2025, members of the Guttenberg Police Department’s Patrol Division responded to a report of a female possibly suffering from a medical episode with a child in her arms. During their on-scene investigation, the female began behaving erratically and kicking responding officers while clenching onto the child. At that time, officers arrested 52-year-old Teressa R. Flynn of Guttenberg, NJ, for resisting arrest [2C:29-2A(3)], aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer [2C:12-1B(5)(A)], and endangering the welfare of a child [2C:24-4A(2)]. Ms. Flynn was processed, medically evaluated, and then lodged in the Hudson County Correctional Center.

9. On January 4th, 2025, during a motor vehicle stop, members of the Guttenberg Police Department’s Patrol Division arrested 34-year-old Yajaira Santana-Flores of Passaic, NJ, after discovering that she had an active warrant, issued by the Woodland Park Municipal Court. Ms. Santana-Flores was then transported to the Guttenberg Police Department for her arrest processing. Upon the completion of her arrest processing, Ms. Santana-Flores was released on her own recognizance, pending her next court appearance with the Woodland Park Municipal Court.


The charges above are merely accusations. Every defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
