Pedestrian Killed in Paterson Motor Vehicle Accident

Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Paterson Police Officer-In-Charge Isa Abbassi announce that on November 3, 2024, at approximately 10:49 a.m., the Paterson Police Department responded to the area of mile marker 2-3 State NJ Route 19 South on a report of a motor vehicle accident which resulted in the death of Manuel Perez, 64 year-old male from Paterson, NJ. It was determined that the victim was struck by a Toyota sedan while he was attempting to hook another vehicle to a tow truck. The Toyota sedan subsequently struck the tow truck and flipped over, landing on its roof. The victim was pronounced deceased at approximately 11:40 a.m. The driver of the vehicle that struck the victim remained on scene and was transported to St. Joseph’s University Medical Center to treat non-life threatening injuries.

This investigation is active and ongoing. More information will be released when it becomes available.
