The GRAMMY Museum's GRAMMY In The Schools Program is a regional music Career Day presented in partnership with the Recording Academy New York Chapter, the City of East Orange, and The Cicely L. Tyson Community School of Performing and Fine Arts, that provides insight to high school students about careers that are available to them in the music industry, and direction on how to prepare for them.
This event will be held on Wednesday, November 6, 2024 between 8:30am and 2pm.
This program provides an opportunity for students to interact with professionals representing a wide range of careers. In addition to Ms. Jones, speakers include GRAMMY winners and nominees, and professionals in related disciplines such as Jeanine McLean who manages Alicia Keys and H.E.R.; Music Executive Michael Goldstone; Global Music Artist Teemanay; and GRAMMY nominee Divinity Roxx; and Broadway Producer Mia Moravis. These interactive sessions take students through the inner workings of the industry to learn exactly what it takes to make it in the business.
“From Dionne Warwick, Whitney Houston and Cissy Houston to Lauryn Hill, Wyclef Jean, Queen Latifah, and Naughty by Nature, East Orange is a city where legends are made,” said Mayor Ted R. Green. “CoCo Jones is a wonderful example of a musician who has successfully made the transition from child star to Grammy-winning soloist and actor. We are excited to welcome CoCo and our other special guests for what I am sure will be an unforgettable enrichment experience for our talented students at Cicely L. Tyson Community School of Performing and Fine Arts.”
