New Milford Man Charged With Sexual Offenses

Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of 31-year-old SHABOO O. WILLIAMS of New Milford, NJ on charges of sexual assault, endangering the welfare of a child, and criminal sexual contact. The arrest was the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Matthew Finck, the New Milford Police Department under the direction of Chief Brian Clancy, and the Dumont Police Department under the direction of Officer-in-Charge Kyle Lezette.

On Tuesday, October 8, 2024, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit was contacted regarding the alleged sexual assault of a juvenile that had occurred in the past. An investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, the New Milford Police Department, and the Dumont Police Department revealed that SHABOO O. WILLIAMS sexually assaulted the juvenile victim on multiple occasions when the child was between the ages of thirteen and eighteen in New Milford, NJ.

As a result of the investigation, on Friday, October 11, 2024, SHABOO O. WILLIAMS was charged with second-degree sexual assault, N.J.S.A. 2C:14-2c(4); two counts of third-degree endangering the welfare of a child, N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4a; and two counts of fourth-degree criminal sexual contact, N.J.S.A. 2C:14-3b. On Saturday, October 12, 2024, WILLIAMS was arrested in New Milford, NJ and remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending a first appearance in Bergen County Superior Court in Hackensack, NJ.

Prosecutor Musella states that the charges are merely accusations, and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. He would like to thank the New Milford Police Department and the Dumont Police Department for their assistance in this investigation.
