SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Construction Official, provide administrative
clerical support to the daily operations of the Construction Department. Perform a
variety of routine administrative tasks to ensure the smooth operation of the
Construction Department.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS including, but not limited to the following:
- Provide administrative support to the construction department including
answering phone calls, responding to emails, and managing correspondence.
- Assist the public with various applications and permits.
- Collaborate with other departments within the town to ensure effective
communication or coordination of tasks.
- Coordinate and schedule meetings, appointments, and inspections for all
construction staff.
- Maintain and organize files, documents, and records for the department.
- Handle general office tasks, such as filing, scanning and data entry.
- Assist in preparation of documents and reports for meetings.
- Other duties may be assigned.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must
be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below
are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- High School diploma required or equivalent.
- Previous administrative clerical experience, preferably in a construction industry.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills, able to disseminate
information relating to the operations in a professional, concise, and consistent
manner.
- Strong customer service focus with strong interpersonal skills in dealing with the
public sector.
- Strong organization skills, accuracy, and attention to details.
- Experience in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint,
and Access; SOL (Spatial Data Logic), knowledgeable in other database systems.
- Experience in handling and preparing legal documents.
- Knowledge and understanding of municipal government a plus.
