Tenafly Man Charged With Endangering the Welfare of a Child

Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of 50-year-old CHEN CHU “TEDDY” KOO of Tenafly, NJ on charges of endangering the welfare of a child and child abuse. The arrest was the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Matthew Finck and the Tenafly Police Department under the direction of Chief Robert Chamberlain.

On Monday, September 30, 2024, the New Jersey Division of Child Protection and Permanency contacted the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit regarding the alleged physical abuse of a child under the age of sixteen. An investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Tenafly Police Department revealed that CHEN CHU “TEDDY” KOO physically assaulted a child under the age of sixteen in the Borough of Tenafly on Sunday, September 29, 2024.

As a result of the investigation, on Monday, September 30, 2024, CHEN CHU “TEDDY” KOO was arrested in Paramus, NJ and charged with one count of second-degree endangering the welfare of a child, N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4a(2) and one count of fourth-degree child abuse of N.J.S.A. 9:6-3. KOO was remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending a first appearance in Bergen County Superior Court in Hackensack, NJ.

Prosecutor Musella states that the charges are merely accusations, and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. He would like to thank the Tenafly Police Department for its assistance in this investigation.
