Contractor Charged with Theft and Forgery

The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Insurance Fraud Unit has arrested a North Jersey based contractor following a forgery investigation.

Prince Narang, 37, of Glen Ridge, is charged with Theft by Deception in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:20-4, a crime of the second degree and two counts of Forgery in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:21-1a(3), crimes of the fourth degree. He was arrested at the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office in Jersey City on Thursday, September 12, 2024 and released pending his first court appearance, which is tentatively scheduled for Thursday, September 19, 2024.

The investigation found that Narang’s company, Artisan Design and Construction, was hired to perform contract work on a residential building in Jersey City. Narang submitted a fraudulent Certificate of Insurance to the property owner and bank to obtain a construction contract. The owner attempted to file an insurance claim for property damage when they learned the certificate of insurance was not valid.

Anyone wishing to report an insurance related crime should call the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Insurance Fraud Unit at 201-795-6400 ext. 6634. The above charges are merely accusations and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty. R.P.C.3.6(b)(6)
