Newark Man Charged With Burglary in Harrison

On August 27, 2024, at approximately 11:38 PM, Harrison Police units were dispatched to Davis St on a report of a suspicious male party. Upon Police officers arriving in the area, Sergeant Silva spoke with the caller, who was able to provide a description of the suspect and direction of flight and further stated she witnessed the suspect “pulling” on multiple car door handles and saw the suspect enter a parked vehicle, removing numerous items from inside. Sergeant Silva then broadcasted a description of the suspect, given by the caller over air to Harrison Police units. Shortly after the description of the suspect was provided, PO O’Donnell saw the suspect matching the description hiding underneath a parked vehicle. Harrison Police units responded to the area to assist. Upon officers detaining the suspect, the witness responded to the location for a “show up”. The witness was able to positively identify the suspect, who officers later identified as William Harris Jr. of Newark. Mr. Harris was arrested on scene for Burglary and later released with a court date.
