Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Paterson Police Department Officer-In-Charge Isa Abbassi announce that on August 21, 2024, at approximately 1:37 a.m., officers from
the Paterson Police Department were dispatched to the area of Madison Avenue and 14th Avenue
in Paterson in response to a ShotSpotter activation. Upon their arrival, officers discovered a 39-
year-old male from Paterson with a gunshot wound lying face down. Officers attempted to
render aid to the victim, but he was pronounced deceased on scene.
This investigation is active and ongoing. More information will be released when it becomes
available.
