Mount Olive Man Sentenced to 3 Years for Sexual Assault of a Teen

Morris County Prosecutor Robert J. Carroll, Deputy Chief of Detectives Jan-Michael Monrad, and Mount Olive Police Department Chief Michael Spitzer announce the sentencing of Joseph Guzman, age 44, of Mount Olive, in connection with a November 2022 arrest.

On October 27, 2023, Guzman pled guilty to one count of third degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child. On August 16, 2024, the Honorable Claudia Jones, J.S.C. imposed a sentence of 3 years in New Jersey State Prison. Guzman will also be required to register pursuant to Megan’s Law and will be on Parole Supervision for Life. He is not to have any contact with the victim or the victim’s family.

Guzman had been charged on November 23, 2022, following an investigation conducted by the Mount Olive Police Department and the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office. The investigation revealed that Guzman sexually assaulted a 16-year-old female victim at Joseph Vincent’s Salon in Mount Olive on August 10, 2022. Guzman was the victim’s employer and supervisor at the salon.

Prosecutor Carroll would like to thank and acknowledge the Mount Olive Police Department and the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office Sex Crimes/Child Endangerment Unit for their efforts which led to the successful prosecution.
