Aggravated Assault in Guttenburg

On June 1st, 2024, at approximately 01:16hrs, members of the Guttenberg Police Department’s Patrol Division responded to the intersection of 68th Street and Bergenline Avenue, after receiving a report of an assault outside of a local bar. Officers arrived on-scene and located the victim, who was suffering from multiple head injuries and bleeding profusely. The victim was quickly transported to a local hospital for immediate medical attention. Following the initial response, the Guttenberg Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Bureau began a criminal investigation to identify and locate two suspects, one of which utilized his motorcycle helmet to strike the victim in the head during a verbal dispute.

Following a lengthy criminal investigation, Detectives successfully identified the two involved suspects as 25- year-old Braihan Collado-Collado of Union City, NJ, and 30-year-old Jovanny Delacruz-Vasquez of North Bergen, NJ. At the time of their identification, both suspects were unapprehended. On August 2nd, 2024, Detectives of the Guttenberg Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Bureau located and arrested Mr. Collado-Collado. Mr. Collado-Collado was charged with endangering an injured victim [2C:12-1.2A]. Upon the completion of his arrest processing, Mr. ColladoCollado was issued his complaint warrant and then lodged in the Hudson County Correctional Center. On August 12th, 2024, Detectives of the Guttenberg Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Bureau located Mr. Delacruz-Vasquez in Union City, where he was arrested and charged with aggravated assault [2C:12-1B(1)], possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose [2C:39-4D], endangering an injured victim [2C:12-1.2A], and disorderly conduct [2C:33-2A(1)]. Upon the completion of his arrest processing, Mr. Delacruz-Vasquez was issued his complaint warrant and lodged in the Hudson County Correctional Center.
